The slow accumulation of information, drip fed to the audience through out the book, allows the author to keep building the tension right up until the crucial moment. Although the specifics are fiction, as I reader, I feel I have learnt more about how this particularly community functions as well as the impact of such fundamental closed communities on its members sense of self and identity. Scott is a new boy who, at first, joins in with the taunting, but soon wants to know more about the girl in his class who doesn't react, who doesn't speak out. morality and ability to discern between these is something that all people of faith must confront and Goldberg handles this with care and honesty. The main characters in Abomination, Yonatan and Ezra , both attended the school where the offences took place, but neither knew of the abuse at the time.

The morals of family and religion are all discussed in an accessible manner and lead students to delve into their own moral compass. His fiction has appeared in New Australian Fiction 2021, Meanjin, Chiron Review, The Honest Ulsterman and Award Winning Australian Writing among other publications. Abomination is his debut work which was initially shortlisted for the 2020 Kill Your Darlings Unpublished Manuscript Award. He’s a breath of fresh air and lifts her out of the darkness of her world with kindness and friendship.As someone who has little knowledge of the Jewish community, I didn’t know what to expect when it was recommended to me. Once the story broke, school officials acted fast, cancelling classes and announcing Rabbi Hirsch’s immediate termination. Yonatan has become a rab­bi, teach­es at Yahel, and is mar­ried to Riv­ka, an esteemed rabbi’s daugh­ter.

A book that every man should read to examine their inner self and every woman should read to understand men. Martha struggles to fit in at school until she makes one friend who helps her unveil the ‘abomination’.

Martha, however, has a very different life with her parents who are part of a rather radical religious group known as the Righteous.
