About this deal

These are both 'official' videos as they are both contained on the ABBA Gold DVD, yet they are somehow missing from this collection! Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve. A Man After Midnight)” and “On And On And On” show the band in the studio and in live performance-sort of.

My friends back in the day would put ABBA down, but I felt so strongly about ABBA I did not care what they thought. When I was a teenager in the 70's there was not much that was more 'uncool' than being a male teenege ABBA fan. Even if you're only moderately keen on ABBA I think you can still enjoy this DVD, younger audiences will enjoy seeing the original videos for some still well-loved tunes, most of the best are included here. As for the girls, Agnetha manages to look pretty despite a succession of unflattering costumes, some of which must have been fashion mistakes even in the 1970s. As a musician and an amateur music producer, I can appreciate the incredible complexities of the music and the 'Wall of Sound' production style that they used. The Very Best of Abba DVD, Greatest hits, 1970's pop music Not a new DVD but in great condition in a plain cover. Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, The Winner Takes It All and Super Trouper are as loved today as they were when the four Swedes rules the charts worldwide. Most of the videos were made by award-winning director Lasse Hallstrom, who today is well-known for movies such as My Life As A Dog, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Cider House Rules. I would rate this 4 star for anyone who doesn't have anything ABBA but am not going to give the product anything as its not definitive at all.

This is truly a fabulous collection from a band that carved themselves out a piece of music history that will never be repeated. Two decades after they last recorded together, Abba remain as one of the most popular music acts of all time. Hallstrom devised a style that included many close-ups of the band, particularly the girls, often shot in such a way that you look at one person’s profile while a straight on shot of another takes up most of the screen. A really fun DVD if you're a die-hard ABBA fan (which I'm not especially, this was bought for a friend)! Abba has inspired numerous pop culture creations--from the campy Australian movie MURIEL'S WEDDING to an international hit musical.Their trademark brightly colored spandex outfits were designed by Owe Sandstrom and his partner Lars Wigenius of Artist Dressing. Eagle”, shot in 1978, was the first video in which Hallstrom shot the group directly onto videotape, giving the clip a real video look that is a precursor to the look of ’80s videos. The last two, “The Day before You Came” and “Under Attack” were done by a team, and they were “real” videos, since by now video clips were important promotional items.
