About this deal

This coding system is different between models in different line-ups (e.g. Elite vs Sport vs Pro) but remains the same between models in the same line-up (e.g. Sport 24, Sport 50, Sport EXP). Even though these are my favorite adjustable dumbbells, they aren’t without their flaws. High Weight Bulkiness The extender options are absolutely worth it for those who lift heavier and need more weight; the non-expandable options are a great value for people who don’t need lots of weight. I personally prefer the color-coding of the Pros over the Elites, but don’t feel this alone justifies the price difference. Handle: Buy the Pro 125 commercial set or Pro 175 commercial set, linked above. This may be price prohibitive, though, since the commercial sets are significantly more expensive than the home use models.

After shipment notification, delivery is usually completed or scheduled (if freight) within 3-5 business days to the continental United States. Some exceptions apply. They’re very similar so which one you decide to get should be based on what you like the look of the most! The open draft of the interior surface maximizes the range of motion and increases ergonomics with the contoured rubber grip. With so many models, each having its own unique set of features, capabilities and limitations, it takes some effort to familiarize yourself with not only the major distinctions between models but also their more subtle differences. They can both be expanded to 90lbs, replacing 28 pairs of dumbbells, and adjusting in 2.5/5lb increments using the adder weights. The Sport EXP dumbbells have an “Open Handle” design. There are no padded wrist support bars on the top of the handle like the Elite has. This gives you all the side-to-side range of motion to move your wrists/forearms without obstruction. A lot of the customers who buy the 125 lb+ models are athletic training facilities and even some commercial gyms, so I think that’s why they made only the commercial sets that go that high — because those applications require the heavy weight and also they need the commercial warranty. Open versus closed is also a bit of marketing-ese. Mine have both. They function pretty much the same beyond the visual illusion of a difference. You’d be hard-pressed to come up with a use-case in which open versus closed functions objectively differently. The two upper tubes really don’t make a difference. They’re just visually awkward. While dumbbells have become essential in a home gym, you may worry about the size of storage that you might need. Alternatively, people usually buy these kinds of dumbbells to save on cost and space. All you need is to buy a pair of dumbbells and a decent weight bench and you could save hundreds in annual gym membership costs.

Side Rails: Bands on the side rails show the weight of the dumbbell selected with the pin. The pin covers the band/rail that's been selected to easily show what the weight is. Both dumbbells are padded for comfort, and most users comment that they will slightly adjust their arms during workouts to accommodate for the size. However, it would be foolish to make such an expensive investment without first attaining all the knowledge needed to make the correct choice. Bowflex targets the home gym market — boasting a range of quality products for thirty years now. The company has sold a selection of dumbbells under its SelectTech range. Their adjustable dumbbell can allow you to have a fully functional gym at a fraction of space and costs. The Sport Series, like the Pro Series, has 3 different dumbbell models in its lineup, including one expandable model and two non-expandable models: Each dumbbell adjusts in 3-5lb increments and replaces 8-20 pairs of dumbbells (depending on the model). You’ll notice that some models in the chart below have different “stages” (i.e. Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3). What this means is that you can expand the weight capacity of the base dumbbell set (i.e. the Stage 1 set) with a Stage 2 expansion kit and then a Stage 3 expansion kit.
