About this deal

There's a lot of really nice detailing on Drag Strip's sculpt that is just lost in the sea of yellow. After a very good showing in the '76 Spanish GP, the car would go on to win the '76 Swedish GP, putting the car and 6 wheels on the map.

Generally speaking, I think that CW Dragstrip is more fun for kids whereas TL is really more for the adult fans. I am all for eco-friendly packaging and reducing plastic use, but some fans have expressed concern that this could lead to figures being easily stolen or damaged in box.Transformers: Legacy brings together fan-favourite characters from across the Transformers multiverse. The middle has a driver's area with an oval opening (and yes, the head is hollow on purpose since it's where the "seat" would be).

He even has the shoulder ridges, which remind me of the ridges armor sometimes had to prevent decapitation in battle. After this success other teams, including the legendary Ferrari Scuderia would experiment with 6 wheel cars. On the right is the now traditional vertical Transformers logo with the Generations logo above that.

I dig the deco, but I’ll continue to complain about the toy being exposed to the elements, not to mention the disgusting booger-mining fingers of children.

Of course, just enough has been changed to avoid licensing issues, but there is enough detail to make the connection. I will say I am not fond of the wheels since they are the "clip on" variety which always look cheap to me. As with Hasbro’s last crack at the Stunticons, Dragstrip and the other limbs are Deluxes, but this time it looks like Motormaster will be a Commander Class, which I think is the new Leader Class. Given considerations that makers wanted to keep the width of the front wheels within the width of the wing for drag, and space for the drivers feet and all the mechanics for steering, the front wheels had to be small.

Drag Strip (or Dragstrip depending on the trademark of the moment) is one of the five original Stunticons, a team of land vehicles who could combine into the powerful Menasor. Here, we get a very Sunbow looking head sculpt, featuring the bold red visor, red plates on the sides of the “helmet” as well as the little “ears” jutting out the sides.

That classification makes sense, since those figures have been getting smaller, but coming with more stuff. Analyzing the model, I must say that I was quite satsfied, various joints that allow a wide range of poses for the robot, as well as being solid enough to hold those positions, a detail that I really appreciate in modern CHUGs, where the old ones often gave problems (photo 1 - 2). A useful detail for the combination in the Menasor Legacy, is the fact that this Dragstrip can split in two by pressing into the small rectangle behind the robot's back (photo 8), so that the two sections of the car can be hooked between the combiner's arm and forearm, leaving the elbow joint free! Finally, the back splits into two and extends to form the legs, with the spoiler halves flipping down to form the feet. Dragstrip is packaged in robot mode, with a good portion of the top half of the robot showing in an open window. Transformers is the only line I collect, where it feels like I’m constantly upgrading to a better version of an existing character, and yet I’m a sucker for convertorobots, so I usually do it. After a slight redesign and another successful year in '77, a redesign in '78 would render the car uncompetitive. Hasbro took the basic yellow and red stripes from the original toy, but added in some of the brownish-gold from the Sunbow animated model.
