I felt like I kept opening new chapters of my self but not able to make any thoughtful progress in reflection. Experiences and visions of the connection between all beings, commonly referred as the experience of Oneness, is common when people drink ayahuasca. Our eyes are massive tools for seeing, but what often comes with this ability is our general idea of judgment towards others, which is bound by materialism. I hope you take my philosophy with a grain of salt because each life experience is different, though we will always end up with the same burial ground.

The observation that the primary visual cortex is more active during imagery with eyes closed than during viewing of actual images is in keeping with numerous reports of the vividness of ayahuasca visions. However, after the third cup this “lowly creature state” was transformed into the emergence of a meta-dialogue or analysis of myself, almost as if the flawed, inconsistent, and darker parts of me had been synthesized to a higher form. In other words the feeling of “I” as “All” could be represented in a sentence as “This is everything, absolutely everything, the experience of the height of all experience”. The water at the lower right represents the eternal source of life from whence the DNA spiral helixes grow upward. If I let go of my attachments sooner, the mental loop could have been cut short, but it didn’t because it was one of my most valued parts of my identity.Many of the stories behind the visionary art hit deep feelings of truth that could never be put into words without the art to guide you. One of the things most people miss today is a deep authentic connection to themselves and the world around them. It not only documents the rich tapestry of visions induced by this potent brew-it reinforces the profound connection between humans and the natural world. It rather opens the door for actualization, for deeper reflection on yourself, but the burden still ultimately falls on yourself.

Artists do well to whistle or chant as I do when I paint--much as a little bird sings to protect the forest.
