About this deal

Using less peaty malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam, it has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with a strong Sherry cask influence. This limited edition of Miyagikyo single malt was introduced in 2021 as the first of the “Nikka Discovery” series. This is Nikka`s approachable, entry-level single malt from Miyagikyo distillery, which is light in body, yet full of flavour.

The location for the Miyagikyo distillery was selected because of its clean air, just the right humidity for storage, and abundant underground water filtered through a layer of peat.Miyagikyo was set up in 1969 after Taketsuru had been making whisky at Yoichi for 35 years and was designed to produce very different style of spirit. In Yoichi, Masataka Taketsuru saw numerous reminders of Scotland, and this convinced him that this should be the home of Japanese Whisky.

Located in the valley of Miyagi, a region in the north of Japan's Honshu island known for its pure air and the quality of its natural springs, the Miyagikyo distillery produces a refined malt whisky with a signature fruity and floral freshness. My rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them. Please always read the labels, warnings, and directions provided with the product before using or consuming a product. This release from the Nikka Whisky team is designed to replace their no age statement variant and is said to contain a range of different aged releases and is matured in ex-Sherry Casks.Nikka's founder Masataka Taketsuru chose a valley in the Miyagi prefecture as the site for his second distillery and started its operation in 1969. The Miyagikyo distillery or Sendai distillery as it used to be known opened in 1969 and was the second to be opened by the Nikka company after Yoichi in 1934. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is a complex, fruity and soft Japanese single malt made at the Miyagikyo distillery near Sendai in northern Japan. If Yoichi is the more masculine style of malt then Miyagikyo is the more feminine and often blended together for the well balanced Nikka blends.
