I’m always on the lookout for children’s books for my younger sister and trying to get her to be more interested in books.

But the funniest thing is that I had received an ARC for this book last year but never got around to reading it and it expired. He won the Highland Children's Book Award in 2007 for his book, The Getaway and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal for children's book illustration, recognizing his 2008 picture book Banana.Something I would have loved to learn reading with, I used to tell stories from pictures before I could read words, then I would remember the words that others had read to me and tell that story. Yet, it is so interactive and enabled me to have a lovely discussion with my sister about bravery and animals.

As well as being named one of The Sunday Times's '100 Modern Children's Classics', Max was long listed for the Kate Greenaway medal and is published in over 15 languages. Although this image is quite tiny, I found this particular illustration where he climbs a tree full of birds to inquire abt mice esp cute! Children are sure to follow along, fully engrossed as they wait to see if Max finally finds that darn mouse. Max is a cat who is trying to be more brave and catch a mouse — the thing is, he doesn’t know what a mouse looks like.The Max The Brave Fund put together special birthday/milestone packages for children fighting cancer, when the little warriors are too poorly to make it home. This means that as he meets each one - birds, goldfish, flies - and mice, they point him in the direction of something else. This book is absolutely adorable and my goddaughter (Rory the Brave) is going to love it when she gets it for Christmas. Max demonstrated that curiosity is normal to have and that we don't always have every single answer.
