About this deal

I appreciate that it came out with the A / B sides; it makes the game feel more variable (especially since you can mix and match A / B sides as long as you’re consistent). Players can use these tokens to take additional actions, modify the layout of the game, or pick one token directly off a boat. Like any game, when you’re actually in the running for the winner’s circle, the game feels exciting and fun, but when you’re falling way behind the pack, it feels pretty hopeless and that sucks the joy right out of it. It’s not going to feel quite as hateful as, say, 7 Wonders: Duel, but it’s definitely not going to feel awesome all the time.

Regardless of which side you are playing, players will score a point for each unplayed action tile in their possession. We are a group of passionate individuals who share our love of board games through written and video reviews, articles, and humor, so that others can join us in our journey. Other people may feel differently, but I found that it was still tense and exciting and played smoothly. It’s not like that many more spaces open up between three and four players, but now you have even more players fighting for a limited supply. You must gauge where to place your stones on the boats so you gain the most rewards once the boat reaches a building site. The game ends once there are no more tiles remaining (from the supply) and the boats cannot replenish. The B side of the marketplace is similar to the A side but has one spot with two face down cards on it. They can even score players points at the end of the game if they have not placed any of their blocks in a building! And most of the time you won’t even have all four workers out at once, since there is a constant ebb and flow of people on the board (more on that next).

But a player can only choose one of three actions in a turn: excavate a new stone block from the quarry, load a block onto a ship, or move a ship to a construction site. Now give the first player two stones, the second player three stones, the third player four stones, and the fourth player five stones in their player color. That’s pretty key; you need to make sure that you’re getting the benefit from choosing which boat gets unloaded. Flipping the script to make the boats essentially carry the Location actions was a pretty smart move to make the game more streamlined. Similar to the ‘B’ side pyramids, the spaces that the blocks take up have some special extra perks to them than just points, one point or two stones, two points, or take a market card.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). There is rarely a run-away winner in Imhotep and it is very amusing to leap over your opponent on the tracker when you have fulfilled the criteria on a card purchased at the market.

The Obelisk for instance only scores at the end of the game, but there are lots of points to be had if you own the tallest one.All photos on this site are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4. You have to think on your feet, adapting your strategy as you go; yes, your schemes can be dashed but there is something so charming about the game that you don’t really mind.
