They can be fussy with where you place them, and they eat through batteries and can give some inaccurate readings when the batteries are low. You still need to use the existing Chronograph barrel mount that comes with your Chronograph and elastic bands.A dummy battery is the easiest way to connect the power bank - no specialist knowledge required, and the FX still works with batterie's afterwards. If it were firmly attached, the Combro would be moving back or forth due to recoil, and that would add or subtract from its result. It makes a mockery if you move it and it alters the reading because you have no way of knowing which is the optimum position and which reading to believe.

There is also a slot on the bottom side that allows you to mount the chrono on an edge, for example a fence. I’ve had to restart my phone a couple of times to get it to connect but overall I’m pleased with it. Yes, no sensitivity settings needed as it seamlessly reads any projectile between 400 to 4000 fps without pressing any button. There is an inherent issue with all Radar chrono's - and it's the fact that they cannot detect a pellet in flight until it's a few yards away from the barrel - it could be as much as 10 yards before it sees the pellet.The list included: a readout that shows the Max, Min and Average velocities as well as the extreme spread (ES) and standard deviation (SD) of a string; the ability to switch between units of measurement and between muzzle velocityMV) and muzzle energy (ME) without editing the gun profile. I have made a support to fit into the shed doorway that will hold the FX and have a window for the mussel. I used mine mounted to the barrel of an Supersport, and a Hatsan 900, and got fairly consistant readings from both. It functions beautifully and I can use the pic rail clamp to mount it on the side of my gun further back on the chassis and out of the way - no more trying to hang it off the barrel etc. The barrel would move a little, but because of its (small) mass the Combro would stay nominally still, and time the pellet's movement irrespective of recoil of the barrel.

I don't think they are perfect, but I think they are a good balance of accuracy/cost/portability and all the features you get from having a Bluetooth devise connecting to your phone. My son and grandson both have air rifles and both were also tested and both of theirs were lower than they believed by about 1ft lb. I did notice in my testing that different FPS readings can occur, depending on where you place the gun over the chronograph.

Thanks so much fe7565 for the detailed explanation of what the FX's chronographs capability might be. It can be clipped directly onto any picatinny rail or remove the picatinny adapter and slot direct onto the rear rail of the FX Impact.
