The Fuji XF 35mm/2 is very good in the center even at f/2, but spherical aberration limits contrast at wide-open higher spatial frequencies as seen in the 45 cycles/mm graph. Where that tapper comes in handy is with the optical viewfinder of the X-Pr1 (and hopefully it's successor). I tried for a while at various apertures to get the lens to generate the best sample of this but it’s very well controlled. degrees, making this a standard lens for APS-C and equivalent to using a 53mm lens on a 35mm format camera. So a few years ago, I did some investigation and discovered the focal length of the eye is 17 or 24mm, however, only part of the retina processes the main image we see.If you have the budget for an even better lens in this focal length range I suggest you also check out the Fujifilm XF 33mm f/1. I did say “nearly flawless” in the last paragraph, and if there is one complaint, it’s some obvious pincushion distortion. The included lens hood is plain round version in plastic, but FUJIFILM sells the LH-XF35-2 which features a classic vented design. These minor quibbles really shouldn’t matter when it comes time to take a photograph, but for me, and I’m sure many others, it can be a distraction at best, and lead to missing the image I want to capture—if an aperture ring has migrated on its own accord—at worst. The Fujinon 35mm f2 is by no means perfect, but the unique characteristics of the images it produces as well as the build quality make for a very nice lens and is a must-have for prime shooters that are looking for a do-it-all lens. A lightweight and compact circular lens hood is included with it and a classical and stylish metal hood LH-XF35-2 is available for purchase as an optional accessory.Give this lens golden color light and you will get some of the most rich and vibrant images possible, just as the XF 35mm f/1. The very best protective filter is the Hoya multicoated HD3 43mm UV which uses hardened glass and repels dirt and fingerprints, and is also multicoated. It's a shame that the focus ring is continuous and doesn't stop at either end like the 16mm or 23mm does.
