About this deal

It is the right match for the people in the fashion industry who are exhaustive users of colored pencils, artist-makers, pens, crayons, and more. The book begins in the first section by explaining some of the processes used to turn fibers into yarn and fabrics, explaining different types of weaves types of weaves, touching on the differences between wovens vs knits, and more. But I hesitate because I like to FEEL and touch fabric to see if it is the right thing for what I want to make… I wonder if I am on the naughty list? The content is really spectacular, providing details on how yarns are twisted, along with a variety of different weaving techniques that are used in fabric manufacturing. All of the fibers, talked about in The Complete Guide are present in The Swatch Book, which is nice as I know a lot of us are really tactile people. Point is, most entrepreneurs are too busy to read enough of a textile textbook to get much (if anything) out of it.The swatches are quite large and, unlike the swatch book we used in college, come adhered to the book rather than in a large bag requiring you to sort through and try to figure out what is what. great for specialisation talks around career pathways, good contemporary references, and good resource book overall with a comprehensive list of certifications.

Increasingly and out of necessity, design is also led by how fabric choices affect our planet and its inhabitants. You can really see the difference between silk organza and nylon organza when they're presented next to each other. I’m not sure I could’ve named 25 different types of fabric, let alone 125, before picking up this book! I have read some reviews where readers primarily focused on the fabric—touching, feeling it, and critiquing it.

Textilepedia book makes development from fiber, explaining the process of making the fabric and the finishing techniques and is very enriching. They are Fabric for Fashion – The Complete Guide and Fabric for Fashion – The Swatch Bookby Clive Hallet and Amanda Johnston (Laurence King publishing, 2014). The latter is a swatch book that has 125 genuine fabric swatches that can be touched and examined with more concise descriptions. The spiral-bound pages within the cover are anchored thereto with only a piece of paper and it won't be long before that tears and comes apart, too.

However, there are 12 samples of different wool fabrics and whooping 20 different samples of silk fabrics! J. Pizzuto’s Fabric Science Swatch Kit meets the technological advances in fibers through fabrications meeting the explicit performance requirements. I just bought Joi Mahone’s book, Create the Perfect Fit, and I am learning so much about pattern alteration. Swatch Reference Guide for Fashion Fabrics gives fabric samples with all relevant information regarding fabric identification on the same page, which has the fabric name, fiber content, count, and characteristics, as well as the similarities and differences between fabrics. However, there is so many fabrics and so much things to learn that when I got these two books as a birthday present, I was super excited! The book is divided into sections about animal fibers, plant fibers, and man-made fibers, and is subdivided into smaller groups within each section.
