About this deal

Considerably less oily than it used to be and comes in a 100ml bottle which is handy for travelling. The product absorbs quickly without becoming greasy, so children don't have to wait too long before they can get out in the sun. At the same time, it also boosts the effectiveness of other preservatives, such as the nowadays super commonly used phenoxyethanol. The less fine (bigger particle size) version is used as a gentle scrubbing agent (a nice natural, biodegradable alternative to now banned plastic polyethylene) and the ultra fine version is used as a helper ingredient that gives a super-silky, soft touch, reduces tackiness or greasiness and can also be used as a mattifying agent. Actually really liked this Cien aerosol from Lidl for myself, but unfortunately it didn’t agree with my youngest’s skin so we went back to Aldi’s range.

Found this handy to apply with one hand (for example when wrestling one child and applying cream to the other! Super common little helper ingredient that helps products to remain nice and stable for a longer time. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. However, you can see that around the eyebrows and the mid-forehead, there are paler patches, meaning you’re starting to lose coverage here. The watchdog tested two popular sunscreens - one own-brand and one well-known international product - and found the SPF dropped by up to 59 per cent after 40 minutes in salt water - like in swimming pools or the sea. The supermarket’s sun cream was revealed as the nation’s favourite through Kantar’s sales volume data from 2022 - with its children’s SPF 50+ outselling all branded and supermarket sun creams on the market.

The bottle also pertains to be an ‘Anti Sand Spray’ which I found amusing because I’m not sure how any substance can be anti-sand?Lidl's Cien range had three SPF 30 options to choose from, including anti-ageing and kids' - but the 'Active' version seemed the most generic and suited to my purposes.

Allow to fully absorb and avoid direct contact with textiles and hard surfaces to prevent discolouration. Compared to the pure form it's more stable, has longer shelf life, but it's also more poorly absorbed by the skin. All brands also lived up to their UVA protection claims - vital in protecting people against sunburn and skin cancer. My least favourite of the three Lacura products mentioned, but again promotes an SPF 50+, UVA and UVB protection, water resistance and quick drying. Also read the instructions carefully, because contrary to popular belief, you still have to rub the spray into the skin! It’s a solid white stuff that’s very alkaline and used in small amounts to adjust the pH of the product and make it just right. What's more it can also help to boost the efficacy of AHA exfoliants (while not boosting the irritation side effect). It is also used to entrap pigments/inorganic sunscreens within a micron size matrix for even coverage and easy application. All in all at the rate my kids are sweating and swimming, this is a great option, though I would be inclined to top it up throughout the day, just to be sure. It has a good safety profile and is allowed to be used at a max concentration of 5% both in the US and in Europe (10% is allowed in Japan). Interestingly, the combination of avobenzone with mineral sunscreens (that is titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) is not a good idea.

For peace of mind and to ensure you and your little ones are protected in these somewhat unusual conditions for us – it’s a good idea to brush up on the do’s and don’ts of sun protection!
