Burial’s Untrue continued to refine the damp sonics and urban mood exhibited on his self-titled album released only a year prior, this time honing in on the hair-raising melodics and fragmented diva vocals that made “Distant Lights” such a standout. Burial’s debut album on double vinyl – including unique download code, black inner sleeves and 180g vinyl in a thick card sleeve.

Highly regarded as a DJ and electronic music producer, on Death Becomes Her she shifts things up to another level. Released as most of Burial's dubstep peers were chasing darker sounds and heavier, wobblier bass in an effort to move dancefloors, tracks like "Archangel" and "Etched Headplate" take an altogether different, rather more serene route. In my opinion the only downside is that the 2x12" does not include some of the shorter compositions as "Untitled", "Ghost Hardware", "In McDonalds" and "Dog Shelter" which are included on the CD. Topping off Hyperdub's 15th year, Burial selects 'tunes'from the last eight years of his EP releases on the label, for this very welcome two CD collection. I'm sure this album won't appeal to the older generation due to its electronic and club-like nature, but in my opinion with true music like this, the genre is totally irrelevant.

Untrue’ is an album that deserves every accolade, and in years to come it will still rightly be lauded as one of the greatest records of all time. Seven years have passed since Burial first stopped us dead in our tracks with this universally acclaimed second album.
