About this deal

Electric underfloor heating is usually placed on top of a layer of floor insulation, to ensure the heat travels upwards rather than down. This is first laid on a layer of screed (made of sand and cement) or suspended timber (floorboards on joists), to ensure the surface is completely flat. If the concrete layer is thinner than 55mm and suitable for use with underfloor heating then standard heating mats can be used and covered with the concrete. If it is not suitable to have underfloor heating encased within it, we recommend using our standard heating mats, covered with 12mm of levelling compound and then installing the concrete floor on top of the levelling compound. RugBuddy comes with RCD protection built in as standard, in case of accidental damage to the RugBuddy. Please test this at regular intervals to ensure it is working properly What's more, when the RugBuddy is covered with a rug, your source of heating is discreetly hidden out of sight. Therefore, you can stay warm without the ugly clutter of a portable heater.

Medium size RugBuddy (generously ‘desk-sized’ at 125 x 160cm, 250 Watts) costs just 7.5p per hour* to run Radiant heat is the most comfortable way to heat your home as anyone with underfloor heating will tell you.

For example, when you use a RugBuddy electric heater for local area heating, you may find you can comfortably turn down your central heating thermostat by up to 3 degrees. This means you will save on heating bills while also cutting down on draughts caused by hot radiators. The running costs for underfloor heating systems will vary considerably, as they are impacted by factors such as: With RugBuddy under rug heating, your rug becomes a source of radiant heat cutting down on draughts and providing warmth just where you need it. Electric heaters in most homes and offices in Australia are inefficient energy guzzlers. That's why heating is one of the key drivers of high electricity bills. Traditional heaters will probably also leave you with cold feet and ankles after working for an hour or two. They don’t provide warmth where you need it – under your feet. Instead they convect, or blow, air around the room creating a stuffy environment and causing cold, floor-level, draughts. A RugBuddy under your desk keeps you warm while you work.

Smart thermostats - these let you manage your underfloor heating from a distance, typically using a smartphone app, and may have more nuanced setting options. They can also be handy if, for example, you head off on holiday and realise you've forgotten to turn the system off. One of the best features of RugBuddy electric rug heater is its energy efficiency. The energy cost of operating a RugBuddy is less than what you spend lighting most rooms. To make the unit even more energy efficient, use a three-prong lamp timer to ensure the under rug heater is only active when you want it.
