About this deal

A: Yes and no. Let me explain! The clear heat transfer vinyl I used for this project is designed to be sublimated, and is often sold as “clear sublimation HTV”, “sublimation vinyl”, or “HTV for sublimation.” Regular clear HTV vinyl isn’t designed to accept sublimation dye, and will not work for sublimation projects. Most transfers produced today which are made from CAD-Cut flex/vinyl will outlast the life of the garment that it is bonded to, providing it is applied and washed in accordance with the instructions provided. HTV materials are very durable, but to ensure that there aren’t issues we recommend that they are ironed on the reverse and not over the top of the design, and to avoid using steam as this could affect the adhesive and the longevity of the design. Do All HTV Material Brands Match In Colour?

I’ll also use my Cricut Maker 3 cutting machine to print then cut the sublimation paper, and cut the vinyl. Any of the Maker or Explore series Cricut cutting machines will work, because they have Print Then Cut capabilities.Typically, because the time and temperature for HTV is lower than what is required for sublimation, the heat doesn’t reactivate the ink. There is a possibility the ink could reactivate a little bit, that’s why we always keep the protective sheet inside the shirt and on top of the sublimation image. This protects your heat press from any ink transfer. That being said, I don’t think you’d be able to notice your actual image fading at all unless you’re adding a lot of pressure or using a higher temp on your HTV for an extended time. Once the HTV has been trimmed, it’s time to weed the design. This involves removing any unwanted parts of the design, such as small pieces of text or intricate details that may not transfer well. To weed the HTV, use a weeding tool or a pair of tweezers to carefully remove the excess material from the design, leaving only the parts that you want to transfer onto the fabric. Applying Heat Resistant Tape

Once you have all the excess vinyl removed from your design, you can flip it over and see how your final design will look through the clear plastic carrier. This is a good time to make sure you have weeded everything you don’t want to transfer to your final project. 4. Iron! A: Nope. See the question above, and remember that the only vinyl suitable for sublimation is clear sublimation HTV, white sublimation HTV, white glitter HTV, holographic HTV, and glow-in-the-dark HTV. Cover the clear HTV with white butcher paper and press at 385° F (196° C) for 30 seconds using heavy pressure. Press down with both hands and use some of your body weight. For the white iron-on vinyl layer, prepare a green StandardGrip machine mat with the white HTV, shiny side down, and secure it with a brayer.A: While some sublimation is hot peel, most is cold. After sublimating the clear HTV, let the sublimation paper sit for 5-10 seconds before hot peeling. In regards to the vinyl, the clear sublimation HTV is cold peel. After applying the clear sublimation HTV you should let it cool completely before attempting to peel away the carrier sheet. The white iron-on vinyl, however, is hot peel in this project (but not usually). Remember that sometimes we use materials differently based on the project! By following these steps to prepare the white HTV for sublimation, you can help to ensure a smooth and successful transfer process. With a little bit of care and attention to detail, you can achieve high-quality, professional-looking results that are sure to impress.
