About this deal

Now onto something a little bit different. Having the best anti mould additive to hand gives you so many decorative options and for this category we would go with Dryzone’s Anti Mould Additive. For example, if your bathroom suffers from condensation, you could look into installing a proper ventilation system. These might be expensive to install but mould resistant paint is only really going to work for a few years before you’ll need to paint it again. Can You Paint Over Mould With Anti Mould Paint? Industry Connections: We maintain close ties with manufacturers and brands, offering insights into trends and upcoming products. In my professional opinion I would avoid purchasing budget anti mould paints. Adding biocides which will ultimately protect your surfaces from mould growth isn’t cheap. So chances are, a budget anti mould paint isn’t going to have a high content of biocides.

Pre -treatment: It is essential to pre-treat infected areas with Kingfisher Mould Cure fungicidal wash. a) The “Mould Cure” bottle comes with a built–in measuring cup, remove the lid, hold upright and squeeze gently to measure out 25 ml four times (100ml) and add to 400ml of warm (Not hot or boiling) water.Areas in the home that are prone to damp, such as the bathroom, are more likely to get mouldy. We recommend using mould resistant paint when redecorating these rooms to reduce the chance of mould growing on walls and ceilings again. Carefully open the Mould Eradication Additive container and add the entire contents to the paint (1 x 50ml of Mould Eradication Additive is enough to convert 2.5 litres of standard paint into a mould resisting paint; 2 x 50ml of Mould Eradication Additive is enough to convert 5 litres of paint). This bathroom specific paint is not only useful in a practical sense of preventing mould, it also gives you an elegant finish that’s tough to match with typical mould resistant paints.

c) With the same measured solution as above, gently wipe the whole area again to remove any remaining mould residues. Wipe inwards from at least a meter past the edge of the visible infestation to catch concentrations of invisible spores which tend to gather at the periphery of the affected area.Leave the surface to dry (this should take approximately One hour) and ideally paint within 7 to 10 days of pre‐treatment. If necessary, apply an appropriate primer or sealer to bare metal or masonry surfaces. For new or porous plaster surfaces thin the first coat if necessary according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow enough time to dry thoroughly.Apply minimum 2 x coats of “Thermapaint Anti‐Mould” by brush or roller. Additional coats may be required With a soft cloth, sponge or soft brush, wash down all areas to be painted with the diluted surface cleanser taking care to remove any oil, grease or surface debris. Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned coat of “Kingfisher Classic Emulsion” (1 part water to 5 parts paint). b) Wearing normal domestic rubber gloves (as you would when using bleach), sponge or wipe onto the affected area. Try to draw the sponge in a single sweep from the outer edge to the centre of the infected area and rinse in the dilute solution each time. This reduces the risk of spreading the spores. Leave for 3 to 4 hours or preferably overnight for full action to develop. Ronseal isn’t the cheapest anti mould option on the market but at the end of the day you get what you pay for. If you want to prevent mould growth, this is the paint for you.
