About this deal

From the beginning of Ziggy to the end of Ziggy, Mick Rock captured the essence and almost everything else to do with David Bowie's Ziggy character.

The added dimension is that DB has written notes for many of them, explaining what was happening, how he felt at the time or identifying other people in the frame. It is quarter bound in blue leather with a photograph foiled on the front and rear and gold/silver blocking.I would literally draw out on paper with a crayon or felt tip pen the shape of a guitar solo: the one in ‘Moonage Daydream’, for instance, started out as a flat line that became a fat megaphone-type shape and ended as sprays of disassociated and broken lines. In 2002, David Bowie and Mick Rock created Moonage Daydream, the defining document of the life and times of Ziggy Stardust. Mr B has never previously gone on record in such detail about the origins, inspirations, mutations and peregrinations of our inimitable idol, Mr Stardust.

The rock n’ roll icon Ziggy Stardust made his indelible mark on the world of pop music back in the early ’70s. In 1972 David Bowie released the instant classic The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars —a record without which any Greatest Albums of All Time list is simply incomplete. Alongside Mick Rock's reflections on these incredible images, David Bowie adds his own thoughts: discussing Ziggy's origins ad giving an unprecedented insight into the stratospheric two-year career of his alter-ego.

First published as a signed limited edition, Moonage Daydream sold out in a matter of months and became lore among David Bowie fans.

Bowie's extra-terrestrial Rockstar creation Ziggy Stardust staged one of the most spectacular and innovative live shows to date, expanding the parameters of the live rock show and singlehandedly launching a worldwide glam explosion. There's pictures from that night here and some show the crowd gathered around the stage, none of them yet Ziggie-fied. It’s a massive coffee-table art book, with lavish images of Bowie in the Seventies from photographer Mick Rock. This is almost a photographic record of Bowie's kick-off into stardom as he is about to release "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars".
