About this deal

The beginning brings us six years after the end of the last book and Salem has returned to be with her dying mother. I was completely excited to start this story, it had absolutely all the tropes I love, and I saw so many people talking just wonderful things about it. At first I was in love, but after 30% I started to feel uncomfortable with the main characters relationship as they were starting to get involved while she was still DATING (and if you don't mind cheating trope go ahead, but it's a big "NO" for me), but I still had hopes that she would break up with her boyfriend before something really happened to the hero, but no...she cheated on him, and still didn't feel guilty while doing so . made a home gym for salem to work out in, so she wouldn't go out for late-night runs by herself! (he also ran with her at first) No offense to Caleb, but you're her mom. I don't just mean that in the DNA sense. You're the one who's stayed at home with her and all that. Besides, he works long hours. I don't think he can be as stable for her as he'd like to think he can be. He's being selfish. Seda needs to be with you, and he can have her some weekends."

You have no idea how much I was looking forward to reading this book. I felt like it was always at the forefront in my mind and the excitement level that I had for this, was indescribable. I wanted it, craved it, thought about it and practically screamed when I was given a chance to read it early. But after finishing this, the only thing that I feel right now is pure disappointment. Nothing happens in this book. It's ALL repetitive. No drama. Same dialogues, same inner monologues being repeated. (I skimmed through the last 20% and I have no regrets). Btw the pain that I had to endure towards the end of this book was insane. THAT part was so unexpected and took me by complete surprise, I have still not recovered. Omg Caleb is so incredibly sweet. Please tell me he gets a book! I literally started crying. I’m pretty sure I love him more than them.the hero thayer. he's a dilf daddy and the things that he did for salem when he JUST met her... 😭 have mercy, a girl can only take so much before she combusts!

Additionally, the age gap between Salem and Thayer, a central theme of the book, could have been explored with more depth and complexity. While their connection was undeniably heartwarming, it sometimes felt like Thayer did not fully embody his age due to his actions and choices, which made the age gap less noticeable than expected. I love grumpy people and Thayer was very lovable in almost an Eeyore kind of way. He couldn’t have given Salem a more apt pet name in Sunshine because she never gave up, she walked under all of his rain clouds. If you're looking for a romance, I can't say that I'd recommend this book to you. If you like Nicholas Sparks love stories/tragedies then maybe you'll enjoy the torture.Honestly, I felt more interest towards the mention (a microscopic one-sentence mention, mind you) of Cynthia and Thelma’s secret love story. Two old women who get mentioned a grand total of 2 times in the rest of the book. I kid you not.

Their chemistry is sizzling 🥵🥵🥵 Yes the spice is pretty good. So if you just want to read it for that purpose and the sexual tension you won't be disappointed. The two connect so well and honestly I love seeing them together. tropes: grumpy x sunshine, single dad, one bed + nightmare trope, age gap (13-14 years), employee x boss vibes bc she’s sometimes babysitting his son, cheating & small town. Instead what we got is her falling for him so easily despite everything. Him loving her so easily. Her cheating on her boyfriend so easily. Her going to her boyfriend and breaking up with him so easily…only for him to accept it all so easily. Her whole relationship with the guy is just too easy and too chill and everybody is so okay and so chill to the point that I just thought that it was all weird and annoying. My future is a big ‘what if’ at the moment and I’m fine with that. For the most part. When Thayer Holmes moves in next door, the grumpy landscaper both fascinates and amuses me. When he asks me to nanny his kid, it’s a great way to make some extra money. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Thayer and his adorable son. There’s a big problem though. I’m eighteen. He’s thirty-one. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasn’t part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them. The Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer – eBook Details Some of the scenes were catastrophically, bury-my-head-in-the-sad, genuinely unbearably, cringe. I wish I could say they were the good kind. *They were not*.I thought this book would maybe be more of a slow burn as I assumed there would be a lot of grovelling on both Thayer’s side (for how he treated her before their break up) and from Salem’s side (for keeping their daughter a secret) but by 30% both characters forgave each other, and very easily at that. By the end of book one I was in desperate need of answers, so the minute I could get my hands on this book I devoured every word. During Salem and Thayer’s 5 year separation, they did not communicate or reach out to one another so Thayer has no idea about their daughter.
