About this deal

Ramona Quimby, by Beverly Cleary (about a girl who gets into troubles because of various reasons- also like Horrid Henry in many ways) Ramona is quite popular with girls in the States (where I'm from); she may be little advanced for the 5 year old, but they're used as early readers/sight readers for kids so they could be a good book to grow into. Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kastner is a total classic and thrilling read, or what about the irreverant Tapper Twins books by Geoff Rodkey. Gene Kemp's The Turbulent Term of Tyke Tileris also excellent (look out for the twist!) I didn’t know the book was set in Britain (idk how I didn’t know, the title screams it) and as a wannabe british myself, I very much enjoyed the “british atmosphere” in the book. I love british kids. Even if they are “horrid”.

Een andere keer mislukt zijn "slimme" plannetje volledig en heeft Hendrik dikke pech als hij datgene krijgt wat hij absoluut niet wilde hebben. Horrid Henry is a children's book series by Francesca Simon and illustrated by Tony Ross. It has been adapted for television, film [1] and theatre. [2] Horrid Henry is set in the United Kingdom in 1994. The book 'Horrid Henry' is a collection of four short stories which focus on the daily events of the classic anti-hero protagonist, Horrid Henry. A man who's very identity is described even before his name is given to us. He is not the only character to be named with an overly-simplified, alliterated characteristic; brothers, arch-nemeses and friends alike are all named like this: Perfect Peter, Moody Margaret, Rude Ralph etc. Truly, from names alone we understand that simplified identity will be the core difficulty our protagonist will have to face in his oncoming misadventures. Horrid Henry is the worst -- he's always in trouble, and he seems even more badly behaved than he actually is in comparison with his brother, Perfect Peter. In the four short stories collected here, the mischievous Henry causes Peter all sorts of problems when he behaves properly for a change, upstages Peter at a dance recital, pretends to be a pirate, and goes on a camping trip" (NoveList: Ellen Foreman). Horrid Henry's Perfect Day", "Horrid Henry's Dance Class" and "Horrid Henry's Holiday" were all episodes from the Horrid Henry TV series. Maar als zijn vervelende neef, opschepperige Steven, Hendrik bang maakt als hij komt logeren, zet hij het hem betaald, en terecht! On the other hand, Dad treats Henry really well in the later series and they start to have a bond which makes their relationships closer. Whereas Mum would tell Henry not to be horrid just for joking or being sarcastic which is why Henry does not get along with her, however she truly does care about her son and love him deep down. The making of "Glop" from "Horrid Henry and Moody Margaret" was used as a challenge between Henry and Margaret in the episode "Horrid Henry and the Secret Club" except that Margaret didn't eat the "Glop". [13] Of course, older Horrid Henry fans must not miss Francesca Simon's books for older readers. She's written three in her Mortal Gods series: The Sleeping Armyand The Lost Gods, a brilliant collision of Norse myth and contemporary celebrity culture for 8-12s.Plus, set in the same world but aimed at slightly older readers is The Monstrous Child. For those that want recommendations from Francesca Simon herself Horrid Henry's Holiday" and "Horrid Henry and Moody Margaret" have been reprinted individually as part of the Early Readers series, [4] [5] aimed at younger children, with colour illustrations in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

With so many brilliantly funny Horrid Henrystories out there, it's easy for children to get hooked. Now we have ideas about What to Read After Horrid Henry - and we want your thoughts too! Elsewhere, children's librarian Jo Clarke aka Bookloverjo shared her recommendation for children who love Horrid Henry's anarchic humour and chaotic storylines - Spangles Mc Nastyby Steve Webb and Chris Mould. Once again, you came up with some fantastic ideas on social media about What to Read After Horrid Henry. Here are some of the recommendations we received... Amelia Bedelia, by Peggy Parish (about a maid and the troubles she has because of her misunderstanding the people around her-rather along the lines of Horrid Henry in some ways), Henry is shown to have a strong grudge against Rabid Rebecca the most out of all his enemies. Whenever Henry finds out Rebecca is around, he always attempts to get rid of her to the point where he tried to get Rebecca arrested in " Horrid Henry and the Bogey Babysitter". Despite that, Henry does seem to fear Rebecca at times after she threatens him.

This book is basically about this kid Henry who does bad things, his brother (perfect peter) who is “perfect” and a few more characters.
