About this deal

I felt there was a lot more to Neil than the short blurbs I found on the internet. Namely, I felt that he comes across as having a great deal of empathy, the underlying cause of which is probably a high EQ. Any former soldier who authors a paragraph on the importance of “being kind to yourself as a new parent”, gets a big thumbs up from me.

The first thing we need to challenge is the assumption that dads can’t get postnatal depression because it is purely hormonal. It isn’t. It’s much more complex, based on an individual’s experience, psychology and history which come into play on top of the stresses of being a new parent. There are multiple factors that can lead to it. For example, being a dad aged 25 or younger, having a partner that is suffering from it, having a history of depression and/or anxiety and not being in a relationship with the child’s mother are all potential factors – but this list is not exhaustive and you may have all of these factors and still not experience postnatal depression. If you are planing on having a few kids, I think buying this book is worth it. I borrowed it from the library, and am considering buying it just because it's quite handy. I wanted to learn as much as I could before she arrived. I wanted to be confident with feeding, clothing, changing, and entertaining a baby. Commando Dad helped me to understand the basics of looking after a baby in the shortest possible time. What Does The Book Cover? Just as in the army, he says, morale is key: "I have a whole chapter on morale. It's crucial. Don't be hard on yourself. We all have bad days. Just because you make a mistake, doesn't mean you're a bad parent. And above all, don't be afraid to ask for help. You're never on your own, and you're no less of a dad – or a man – if you ask for help." The headlines here in the UK are dominated by stories of horse meat ‘contaminating’ British meat products. I have no real problem with eating horse, in fact, now I know it is cheaper and apparently indistinguishable from beef, if anything, I want to eat MORE of it.Getting it Right from the Start– This a DVD and booklet on attachment and bonding for new parents, produced by Tameside Early Attachment Service in collaboration with The Brazelton Centre to promote sensitive and responsive early relationships and infant communication. It’s based on evidence from research and clinical studies in infant development and infant mental health. There are many things your troopers can get up to in their household. Children, being naturally creative, can make fun out of most things so here are a few ideas for entertainment you can provide without even having to leave your home. When I was on Special Forces selection, the directing staff always told us that the ethos of being a Special Forces soldier is simple: It really works. Doing it this way means that dads of all parenting abilities and with varying levels of exposure to children understand the messages the book is trying to put across. And now about the uniform. The skirt was so short, that it ended about 3 cm below my crotch on the front side.... our butt cheeks were not covered. The shirt was almost see through.

The funny thing is, my friend and I know each other from the Royal Marines, where we both served as young Commandos. The book is written by Neil Sinclair. He is a former Commando himself, of the Army variety. Now I know what readers are probably thinking, “Those military types are a close-knit bunch and this is probably a plug for one of their mate’s books”.FCOs are abrupt and impolite, designed to get the bare minimum of information across to those who need to hear it. Those who are in a gunfight and under immense pressure. Noise, confusion, disorientation and battlefield haze all clouding ones situational awareness, a bit like late night parenting.
