About this deal

She might be able to focus on her writing again, rather than worrying about how to make her life work. When Finlay tracks down her target, however, the situation quickly escalates, and Vero, the former nanny for Finlay's children, might be the only one who can keep her out of trouble. The funniest crime series debut since Stephanie Plum strapped on her bounty-hunting gear, and you’ll love every minute of it. It had used words like idyllic and peaceful to describe the neighborhood, because in the glossy pages of a real estate magazine, no one can see through the windows to the exhausted stabby mommy, or the naked sticky toddler, or the hair and blood and coffee on the floor. Until the wife goes missing and the police are looking for the missing man and now his wife as well.

If you are looking for a healthy dose of realism and grit, then you are going to be doomed to be disappointed, but if instead you are looking for fun, entertainment, bags of humour and laughs, then Finlay Donovan is your woman. Though she’s tempted by the money—and curious about the potential victims—she never actually commits any of the murders herself. Well I’m Rafiki and this book will be Simba anytime any of my suburban book club member friends (“SBCMFs”) ask me what they should read next in 2021.I hope everything’s okay,” I said sweetly, in case she’d been crushed to death in a car accident or burned alive in a house fire overnight. She looked at the roll of tape with all the assurance of a girl who had yet to be let down by the most important man in her life. I’d take either one in a heartbeat if I was single, though I was leaning in a different direction than the story went. i think it made finlay a great character and her relationship with vero is amazing - they make such a great team!

After a harrowing morning with her kids involving a bad haircut and messy breakfast that ends with syrup, blood, duct tape and a knife … don’t ask … Finlay meets her book agent, Sylvia, at Panera to discuss her newest book. Her babysitter, Vero, walks in while she’s hunched over the man’s body, and that ends up creating an unlikely partnership between the two because Vero is lowkey bribed with the money to keep quiet. but it did touch on some dark things, so i will post some tw/cw down below, but highly recommend this to anyone, even if you think it's not for you!Oh sure, there are lots of suburbanites who would instantly turn to a life of crime if only given the opportunity. When the discussion about Finlay's latest crime novel is misinterpreted by a woman sitting nearby as the plans of a hit-woman offering up her services, Finlay is finally promised the large sum of cash she's always hoped for. If you are behind deadline, maybe you need to establish a daily minimum word count instead of accepting a contract killing position? Well you tell me what's romantic about a cop tryna smash you in the backseat of your loaner car while on a stakeout.

Getting the job done” for one single mom takes on a whole new meaning in Finlay Donovan is Killing It, a deliciously witty adult debut—the first in a brilliant new series from YA Edgar Award nominee Elle Cosimano. She finally makes it to Panera for her meeting with Sylvia and describes the murder plot of her book over lunch. I flicked on the light, but the cavernous space was still dim and depressing, empty except for the oil stain left behind by Steven’s F-150 on the concrete and my dust-coated Dodge Caravan. If I couldn’t earn a paycheck in the next three months, Guy would find a way to take my kids and give them to Theresa, too. Finlay is having a terrible day when her children’s nanny, Vero, doesn’t show up and she’s running late to a fancy brunch meeting with her agent. Finally, the story works because at the heart of the tale is one big mystery and several smaller ones that were unpredictable. Murder, mayhem and - maybe - a touch of romance, the warm, hilarious and instantly-lovable Finlay Donovan series is perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Dial A for Aunties and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series.

You never want to be the asshole that leaves a message promising to kill someone for being late, only to find out they’ve already been murdered. Not long after the Panera incident, Finlay is able to rekindle her relationship with her fabulous nanny, Vero and the two become, quite literally, partners in crime. It felt like a lot crammed into the plot, like one twist was happening after the other, and that it was trying to distract the reader from other things. This fiasco continues on a downward spiral when she is mistaken for a contract killer while discussing her latest book ideas! When she observes him trying to drug another woman, she steps in and switches the drinks and ends up with the man unconscious in her minivan. This suspenseful romp made me laugh but also kept me on the edge of my seat with its many surprises. This was a fast paced, suspenseful comedy/hilarious murder mystery with strong FCs who turn into “ride or die” friends/partners!
