About this deal

It sure looks like the one I have, but mine is white although they do offer white and silver as an option, and am not sure if it is the same. You might be interested in this test report from a German hunting magazine which includes the Zeiss 8x56 FL, Swarovski 8x56 SLC and the Leica 8x50 Ultravid. LIGHT TRANSMISSION - SCHOTT ED - glass with a hydrophobic multi-coating provides optical clarity and precision in all situations. I use a 24 mm TeleVue Wide Field that i added cross hairs to. It does a good job and provides a 6.8 degree TFoV at 8.3x with a 6 mm exit pupil. I think the 20 mm ES 68 would be a good eyepiece for my SV finder , 6.5 degrees at 10 x with a 5 mm exit pupil . The field stop is wide enough to glue the cross hairs to.

If I was looking at an 8x50 it would not be the Leica as its field of view is only 115m the same as the 10x50. I would go with the new Swarovski 8x50 EL. I myself am a big fan of 8x50 or 8x56 binoculars. They provide fantastic brightness and are very comfortable to use. You can always extend the inter-barrel distance a bit more than usual and get a kind of "wide screen" view of the field (thanks to their very large exit pupil). Although it doesn't offer full crash protection, the rubber coating can protect against small bumps or bruises. The eyepiece can be rotated in the focuser. This seems like a small advantage but it is very important. With some scopes, the finder is mounted either vertically or horizontally. If the mount is a alt-az mount, then the crosshairs axes are aligned with the vertical and horizontal axes of the scope which means the finder is aligned with the axes of the Sky Safari chart.Whether you are a casual observer or a dedicated hobbyist, everyone benefits from having a pair of top-quality binoculars. These compact devices bring distant objects into focus clearly and allow even novice naturalists to see details they might not have noticed. While on vacation last month I had the opportunity to closely compare my 8x56 FL to a friend's Ultravid 8x50. I hadn't written about that experience here because I didn't consider either binocular to be of much interest to birders. Now your question gives me a good excuse, so I'll look for my notes and write a brief comparison this weekend. Sorry I haven't seen a Swarovski 8x56 SLC. But if not, and if eye relief is ever an issue, of the three mentioned the Swarovskis trump the other two by a few millimeters. Because we are product consulting professionals with much expertise, we believe the data is credible. The level is accurate to 0.1 degree so I can measure the range with a star at the top of the field and a star at the bottom. I should be close. The 42mm and 50mm Trinovid BAs were replaced by their BN equivalents in 2000 (the 32mm versions were not replaced until 2001).Argon purging and o-ring seals provide water and fogproof performance in all environments. Rugged construction withstands recoil and impact. Includes GlassPak harness. And while exploring these old names, did the Di (in Zeiss Dialyt) refer to the two halves of a binocular??

I have a S&B 8 x 56 and a Swarovski 8 x 50 . If i had to buy again i would have two swarovski 8 x 50's. Most finders have 40 deg kelner eyepieces. That keeps the edge stars and cross hairs sharp. I wish they would use a Plossl at least. And who needs cross hairs? I know where the center is. A finder could find much better if it were 60 degrees, I think. Likely it is a trade off with eye relief and weight. An 8 degree FOV would make star hopping a snap. At 5.5 degrees, I often need to make leaps of faith to get to the next star. The Ultravid HD-Plus 50 binoculars are specifically designed to give you a clear view of your target even in dim light - from dusk and into the night. They deliver excellent contrast and an image brightness that, when combined with their large lenses, make the Ultravid HD-Plus 50 the per fect binoculars for hunting in the darkest conditions. The most effective ones have indeed been proven to work. Prior to purchasing things, do some research on best 8x50 binoculars. Here are some questions to consider.

Baader Universal Quick Release Finderscope Base

So, for a finder, 60 degrees is easily doable and cheap. It would help find stuff. But the finder is mounted. You are more likely to notice the edge astigmatism when you keep the scope still. Also, Erfles have less eye relief. Hand held, holding them against your face stabilizes them. Mounted, bumping the eyepiece shakes the view. Kelners have more eye relief, more even than Plossls for the same field of view. Steiner Navigator Pro 7x50 Binoculars are an ideal choice for outdoor and sporting activities. The floating prism system makes it easier to see in low-light conditions, as well as for prolonged periods of use. The Makrolon housing is extremely durable, lightweight, and weatherproof.
