About this deal

The arrival of The Lion and his Dark Angels, and therefore the arrival of Konrad Curze, was wonderful. The drama of making sure both sides are still loyal, and The Lion's suspicions that Guilliman was even more traitorous than Horus was great. You needed rest. Besides the injuries, you spent too long drinking that foul brew with the heathens last night''Mjod is... an interesting concoction' Guilliman agreed. 'As for the Wolves, I like their honesty. I like much less battle-brothers who hide their intentions and make guile a weapon' Abnett explores the fact that Gulliman is effectively the only Primarch with a mother, a rather interesting nuance that sets him apart from his siblings. Tarasha Euten is of the proud, overbearing mould without ever straying too far into cliché. While Gulliman, plagued by all sorts of doubts and misgivings about his new empire, mulls over his own legitimacy to rule this new Imperium Secundus, the fiery Euten has no such qualms. A sort of relief comes in the shape of Lion El'Jonson, a convenient head on which he can put the crown. In one of the books more light-hearted scenes, Jonson's arrival on Maccrage is heralded by his companies of Dark Angels performing a series of perfectly synchronous drills and weapons routines, a spectacle clearly designed by Jonson himself to show off. Gulliman's jaw duly drops, embarrassed as he must greet Jonson surrounded by a rag-tag cohort of not-arsed Space Wolves. Unfinished or abandoned character Arch's, a stupidly overpowered antagonist and terrible character portrayal literally had me pausing and thinking wtf did I just hear? Ultramarines' Primarch Roboute Guilliman declares a reluctant Sanguinius of the Blood Angels Legion as the new ruling Regent of the Imperium Secundus on Macragge

The Night Lords saw this threat and fell upon Sotha. The battle was fierce and bloody, claiming many lives, including that of Dantioch, who sacrificed himself to overload the Pharos, taking a host of Night Lords with him. Ultramarines and Dark Angels relief forces dealt with the survivors and Sotha was reinforced, though the power of the Pharos was permanently reduced. Some suggest that the blazing beacon created by the overloading also drew the attention of something deep in the void between galaxies, a great devourer that would threaten the Imperium ten millennia later… Roboute Guilliman: Lord of Ultramar • Leman Russ: The Great Wolf • Magnus the Red: Master of Prospero • Perturabo: The Hammer of Olympia • Lorgar: Bearer of the Word • Fulgrim: The Palatine Phoenix • Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa • Grandfather's Gift • Perturabo: Stone and Iron • Malcador: First Lord of the Imperium • Konrad Curze: A Lesson in Darkness • Jaghatai Khan: Warhawk of Chogoris • Vulkan: Lord of Drakes • Sons of the Emperor • Corax: Lord of Shadows • Angron: Slave of Nuceria • Scions of the Emperor • Konrad Curze: The Night Haunter • Ghost of Nuceria • The Passing of Angels • The Abyssal Edge • Mercy of the Dragon • Lion El'Jonson: Lord of the First • Illyrium • The Revelation of the Word • Morningstar • Will of the Legion • Embers of Extinction • Alpharius: Head of the Hydra • Blood of the Emperor • Loyal Sons • Mortarion: The Pale King • Rogal Dorn: The Emperor's Crusader • Sanguinius: The Great Angel • Heirs of The Emperor There are a number of elements that could have had a good story built around them. The aging Euten the chamberlain, giving her advice to a Primarch and the Adeptus Astartes as though she is their equal. The concept of Perpetuals. The dialogue between the Lion and Guilliman. Pollux finding his purpose. Although Guilliman had brought peace to Ultramar before founding this new empire, war soon followed. Alpha Legion infiltrators attempted to assassinate Guilliman in his private chambers, the traitor primarch Konrad Curze arrived in pursuit of Vulkan. He was stopped, but at the cost of the Salamanders primarch’s life. Meanwhile, elements of Curze’s Night Lords had also made their way to Imperium Secundus, having chosen the sparsely populated world of Sotha as a staging ground to recover after a disastrous defeat at the hands of the Dark Angels. But Sotha was much more than it seemed… Guilliman, Sanguinius, and Lion El'Jonson led the bulk of their respective Legions through the Ruinstorm in hopes of reaching Terra and aiding the Emperor in His final struggle against Horus, though ultimately only Sanguinius and the Blood Angels would make it through following the Second Battle of Davin to participate heroically in the Siege of Terra.

Respect has to be given to those that have aided Dan in paving the way up to this novel and also kept him straight with maintaining continuity, but Dan has to take a bow as well. What he has done is produced not just a great book but also opened the door for the next stage of the Horus Heresy series. This was an especially excellent story in the deep discussions about the set-up of another Empire, as well as the momentous events that happen in this story. From 5 Primarchs (Curze, Sanguinius, Guilliman, The Lion and Vulkan), to the mysterious Cabal and their Perpetuals- to the intra-unit conflicts of the Astartes, it's all here in its glory.

The Raven Guard, Salamanders, Iron Hands, Blood Angels, and Imperial Fists(with the exception of Alexis) did virtually NOTHING. I mean, even the White Scars only had that one scene of introduction that everyone else had, and they helped chase Curze a little bit, but other than that, they did.... nothing? Following the horrific events of the Battle of Calth, the XIII th Legion had been badly crippled and no longer presented a viable threat to Horus' plan to drive on Terra. Erebus had managed to complete his blasphemous ritual on Calth's surface, which summoned a Ruinstorm to the galaxy's Eastern Fringe -- a monstrous Warp Storm larger and more destructive than anything spacefaring humanity had witnessed since the days of the Age of Strife. Grief that his father, the Emperor, Terra, and the grand dream of the Imperium itself were lost, and the only way for their civilisation to survive was to consolidate within the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar. It was a burden Guilliman had never sought to bear, and it was made heavier by his unmitigated sorrow. The list made clear that the plan was to commemorate them on a memorial, not by name, but rather numerically. In the event, the memorial erected in Dar Es Salaam did not even include the number of dead. Instead it included an inscription that described the carriers as “the feet and hands of the army”. So, The Unremembered Empire. This is probably one of the bigger pieces of lore to be really "new" when it comes to the HH(Though I could be wrong), and man was it a nice thing to read about!

Thanks to the loyalist Warsmith Barabas Dantioch activating the Pharos, warriors of the Emperor and refugees fleeing the Shadow Crusade were able to find their way through the Ruinstorm and make it to Macragge. Soon, Guilliman was joined by his brother Lion El'Jonson and the Dark Angels. [1] The comatose body of Vulkan was eventually brought to Imperium Secundus as well, joined by scattered forces of the Salamanders under Zytos, Raven Guard under Verano Ebb, Iron Hands under Eeron Kleve, White Scars under Timur Gantulga, Imperial Fists under Alexis Polux, and Space Wolves under Faffnr Bludbroder. Sanguinius and the Blood Angels, fresh from the Battle of Signus Prime, were among the last to arrive. [1] The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here. Barabas Dantioch was recognized as the first Warden of the Pharos and a " Hero of the Imperium" by Guilliman's own decree. His mask remained within Mount Pharos atop the 'Aegidan Oath' sworn by Oberdeii as the new Warden of the Pharos, for almost a thousand years. [5] After Oberdeii became the Chapter Master of the Scythes of the Emperor, the mask was removed from its resting place, becoming a badge of office for the Chapter's highest rank. [5] [7a]

This needs to be put right, with archives scoured for names. Also the CWGC needs to start telling the story of why so many of those who served Britain are not named and not remembered as individuals. I’ve done my job right, there should be zero sense that this book was arduous and demanding to compose. Of all of them... Why did it have to be him who found a way through the storm?' Gulliman whispered. The leaders of Imperium Secundus; (from left-to-right) Primarchs Roboute Guilliman (Chief Advisor), Sanguinius ( Imperator Regis) and Lion El'Jonson (Lord Protector) The other eighteen were the banners of the Legiones Astartes themselves. Guilliman had created this chamber in the greatest city of his homeworld in the hope that someday, after the Great Crusade was over, all of his brothers, all of them, could sit at a table with their father, as equals, and talk of the matters of empire.

By 014. M31, it became clear that the Emperor and Terra endured, thanks in large part due to the visions of Sanguinius and the captive Curze. The Triumvirate of Imperium Secundus decided to abandon their project, which many now considered redundant and heretical. Imperium Secundus was abolished and its territories were once again declared part of the Realm of Ultramar under the Regency of Valentus Dolor. Guilliman, Sanguinius, and Lion El'Jonson led the bulk of their respective legions through the Ruinstorm in hopes of reaching Terra and aiding the Emperor in his final struggle, though ultimate only Sanguinius and the Blood Angels would succeed in this. [5] Sources The Lion dwelled in secrets, and played his cards too close, for he walked by himself when he pleased. There was too much of the wild forest in him. The Lion should have been as noble as any of Guilliman's brother Primarchs, but they had never been close, and there was too much about him that was sly. Yet, despite his personal misgivings, Guilliman welcomed the Lion with the formality and respect due his prestigious position.

Shed a tear for the Gallowdark ! We reach the final boxed expansion for this season of Kill Team in Gallowfall, in which a deep-space salvage team from the Leagues of Votann battle with a braying band of Beastmen for possession of long-lost Ironkin cognitive units. This boxed set contains parts and rules for both of these kill teams, as well as a set of Gallowdark terrain with exciting new bells and whistles to play nine new missions.* Guilliman would have taken any loyal Primarch left, even the barbaric Leman Russ, to serve as the acting ruler of the Imperium Secundus rather than himself. It was a burden Guilliman had no desire to take up, but ultimately he was left with no one else as a potential candidate, and it proved a burden he was finally willing to shoulder. Cut off from the Imperium, the Lord Macragge decided to secure the Five Hundred Worlds of the Realm of Ultramar. He decided to anchor what remained of the Imperium of Man on the Ultramarines' homeworld of Macragge. The XIII th Legion had discovered the means to help navigate their voidships through the Warp without the beacon of the Astronomican through the use of the recently discovered xenos-technology on the world of Sotha known as the Pharos. Imperium Secundus was a Human empire on the Eastern Fringe of the Galaxy formed in 009. M31 during the Horus Heresy. At its peak, it compromised roughly five hundred worlds and was centered around the realm of Ultramar. [1] HistoryThe galaxy contained only eighteen Primarchs. The conjunction of even two of them was a singular moment when the balance of the cosmos was temporarily and specifically weighed, especially when those two were, perhaps, the most feted and respected war leaders of all. Guilliman offered his brother an honour guard of almost forty-seven thousand fighting souls, not to mention the million or more civilians crowded into the streets of Macragge for a glimpse of the Lion-lord and his famous warriors. The people of Macragge came out in force to celebrate the arrival of the Lion. Curze just makes everyone look so incompetent, pretty much single handedly conquers the entire planet. Only slightly exaggerating, not by much. Makes my favorite primarch and his legion looks like absolute fools. Which I'm a little bitter with Abnett's handling of the Dark Angels. If you don't know how the Heresy ends it leaves you wondering how any of these bumbling idiots could hope to challenge the likes Horus and Abaddon. The Night Haunter is a ridiculous character, not really a fan of the whole 9 foot tall post human in power armor conveniently disappearing in every shadow. Guilliman was overjoyed that one of his wayward brothers had arrived during his hour of need, but of all his brothers, he wondered why it had to be the Lion who had found his way through the storm. Though the Lord Macragge greatly admired the lord of the I st Legion, he felt there had always been a shadow upon him. This passage was the first thing i thought about when rumours of the Lion's return where floating around, and with it confirmed I feel he and Roboute's relationship will once again be a large lore point. For context, The Lion has just arrived unexpectdly to Ultramar and Guilliman has just found out and is conversing with his adoptive mother.
