About this deal

Cole, Henry (18 October 2018). A Biker's Life: Misadventures on (and off) Two Wheels. Quercus. ISBN 978-1787471047. My favourite find of all time is my Quartermaster drag bike from the 1960s. I go into this shed with Sam and in the corner we see this thing that just looks like a torpedo. It’s a T100 Triumph with a supercharger on it running on methanol. We completely rebuilt it and I’ve got an eighth of a mile record of about 100 miles an hour at Elvington [on it]. I think I can get it up to about 130mph. As shed-finds go, that’s one of the best we’ve found.” He’s the owner of Gladstone Motorcycles:

Founded by Cole in 1995, HCA Entertainment is an independent television production company, specialising in factual entertainment programmes that have appeared on ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Discovery and Quest in the UK. [6] World Records [ edit ] Cole was born in Tooting, south London. [1] [2] He was placed for adoption at ten days of age and adopted by George and Florence Cole, who lived in Tooting, moving five miles away to a council flat in Morden when Cole was five years old. The senior George suffered from epilepsy, a double hernia, and the after-effects of gas poisoning during the First World War; he had several jobs which were curtailed by his ill-health, including the pulling of a heavy roller for Tooting council, which exertion in Cole's opinion contributed to his father's death. [3] He attended secondary school in nearby Morden. [1] He left school at 14 to be a butcher's boy and had an ambition to join the Merchant Navy, but landed a part in a touring musical and chose acting as a career. He recalled during that year (1939) he was in Dublin on the day of Britain's entry into World War II when he witnessed an effigy of Neville Chamberlain being publicly burned without interference from the local police. [4] Career [ edit ] HC: The Lake District is amazing, but my favourite road is my local road from Burford to Bibury. It’s 12-miles of hilarity. That moment had everything. The privilege of being there, the fear of attempting it, the excitement of a possible record. Everything conspired to create a memory I’ll never, ever forget. But all of the moments we have out on our bikes are special. He is very public about his battle with Heroin addiction between the ages of 19 and 24. He is now 28 years clean but still is heavily involved in trying to help other addicts and share his experience in battling addiction. Several friends have died from drugs. Henry Cole's passion for motorbikes began when, at the age of eight, he was first introduced to a 'man cave'. His great-uncle Redbeard's corrugated iron shed was 'stuffed to the gills with old motorbikes' which Henry helped rebuild and ride. Since then, Henry's life can be charted through the bikes and journeys he has been on - from a stifling public-school education, via many years battling addiction, to the big-sky iconic routes Henry has ridden for over twenty series as presenter of numerous TV shows. He has also directed over 70 TV commercials for brands like Flora, Mastercard, Top Up TV, Dixons, TFL, Amstrad among others. I have a lovely little Norton ES2 called Mavis. Mavis and I go for our little spiritually relaxing rides around the Cotswolds. I don’t take Mavis more than three or four hundred miles. But I have a very different conversation with her than I do with my American chopper! Henry Cole is on television most days of the year as the presenter of shows like Shed and Buried, the World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides and The Motorbike Show.
