It was a difficult process proving hard to get off the ground, the result of which was HarperCollins asking me to consider taking on the project as a single author. She is passionate about engaging a visual generation and reaching both a Christian and non-religious audience. We live in a world often described as a global village, in which we are constantly absorbing information. Plus, when I shared Prof Tufte’s challenge for us to see with fresh eyes, I doubt many of you were thinking about revisiting the Bible.

This book is an imaginative and thought provoking way of viewing the story and information of the Bible. One of those moments was seeing the totals of Jesus declaring himself being equally Son of God and Son of Man!

It's certainly an interesting collection, but after reading it I'm not sure that it has much aided the deepening of my understanding of the bible. But, whatever your view of the Christian faith, I’m sure you can appreciate that the text of the Bible is challenging data.

The graphics lure you in and you find yourself peering more and more closely as different layers of information are revealed. Sources” are given, but it appears that the data gleaned from the sources comes in a variety of ways. When I shared my review of Edward Tufte’s latest data visualisation book, “Seeing with fresh eyes”, I did not mention how his challenge reminded me of this Infographic Bible. It was my delight to art direct and refine the whole project and with the exception of 16, I was also the designer and illustrator.Most of it I found really good, but two things were rather jarring and brought down the number of stars. Postage-stamp size, this doesn’t tell you much; but, seen as a large two-page spread, it would reveal itself as a diagram ( see above) about the “wisdom, initiative, and opportunity” of women of influence in the Old Testament, produced with the aim of “engaging a visual generation”.

Taking inspiration from the imagery Jesus evoked with His picturesque parables, The Infographic Bible reveals the character of God, his Word, and his redemptive plan in 84 stunning infographics. When it’s an information-packed book filled with visual charts, graphics and infographics about the Bible!No matter what your level of journal-using proficiency is, this amazing journey with Jesus will no doubt be notable! Building on my foundation of 20 years as a designer and illustrator for print, this project pushed me to new levels of technical ability and skill sets. When I began to co-create with our Creator God Elohim it was incredible and opened doors in the industry that looked unbelievably impossible, I know his affirming and delight as I create with him. This team helped by advising which key stories and books in the Bible were needed to further explain those stages and move the Big Picture story forward.

Catching up on some sleep I think… and then who knows, it’s one of the things I love about being freelance and get so excited working with Jesus, because who knows the doors he is going to open next! However, the author Karen Sawrey has pulled off that feat with an engaging book that is well worth seeing. I have two minor issues with this book: the print is sometimes too fine to be readable, and some information is lost in the center binding. In addition to the 57 people involved in helping create the book, I needed a team to support me personally.Rhoda played several roles in the project to support me including data contributor and supporter (see pp 86-87 for example). Karen Sawrey and her team of contributors have created a Bible resource that will be referenced time and time again. This incredible gift of co-creating with him is extended to every single person and it’s in that place that dreams are birthed, awaked and activated into reality. Brilliant item in itself, brought as a gift but unfortunately it turned up with marks on the front and back of the cover. My passion is to work with God to awaken, activate and affirm creatives, to rise up and open Kingdom doors.
