About this deal

There's one downside to this wider range of choice though: it can be hard to know which vac to choose. If you want a home vacuum that's a step up from the standard Henry - and don't mind paying extra - the Henry Xtra is the one to buy. The extra turbo tool and hard floor head mean it's great for cleaning almost any surface. One of the great aspects of this is its allergy retention, which is great for those of us who start sneezing every time the dust gets agitated. There are a variety of considerations to be made before you make your final choice from the Henry vacuum range. Things like colour, shape, and whether or not it can handle cleaning up after your dog are important! If you love Henry (the vacuum) and you have pets, then the Henry Pet 200 would be an excellent shout for you since it has all the great features of a Henry with the added bonus of extra pet-friendly features. Our tester Jen found that it excelled as collecting hair left behind by her adorable guinea pigs. It's for sure one of the best vacuums for pet hair.

The Henry vacuum is certainly a classic but its performance was average. Like many Numatic vacuums, Henry weighs much more than the market average for cylinder vacuums and can be difficult to manoeuvre. The good

Add to that all the usual benefits of the Henry range such as 9 litre capacity, a sturdy frame and reliable, long-lasting performance and you have the perfect addition for any pet lover’s home. It might sound like a complex term regarding suction or energy efficiency, Numatic International are the manufacturers of the Henry. Incidentally, although known as Henry Hoovers, they aren’t Hoovers by brand. It's also built to last. Numatic has a reputation for producing reliable machines, and the Henry is no exception. The simplicity and durability of the Henry means that it will last a long time. The cord rewind and storage system is also a useful feature, as the 10 metre cable would take a while to wind around hooks. The Henry Pet200 is a standout choice for anyone who needs a reliable vacuum, especially if you've got pets running around. It has a range of attachments to help combat pet hair and dirt, and in our review, we found it was really easy to switch between tools, especially as they are all stored on board.

Suction is reflected in two ways with the Henry vacuum cleaner range. It is either a result of the maximum energy outage that the model in question has, or it is marked as a class rating. For example, the class rating of the Harry pet hair removing Henry is a Class C. If you want maximum suction, you have to go for bigger numbers. So where the Harry is a 620 w, the basic Henry has the option to go up to 1200 w. This will have more suction power. If you need a no-frills, all functionality vacuum with a friendly face, then Henry won't let you down. As our reviewer Helen says 'In an age where most vacuums now seem to have screens, lasers, and tiny bagless dust canisters, Henry reminds us that you don’t need to spend a fortune on all this tech to get the job done'. There are a few downsides though. At 11kg, the George is heavier than other Numatic vacuum cleaners. This is expected from such a powerful and durable vacuum, but may make it less portable. It's also considerably more expensive than Charles.READ NEXT: The best cordless vacuum cleaners How to choose the right Henry vacuum for you 1. Henry: The compact, flexible choice Charles has a switch with the wet or dry modes on the front which makes it easier to use and comes with a much smaller price tag than the George. He is bright blue and completely watertight, so you won’t make him explode if you accidentally vacuum up a spilled drink. With the Charles, you could even clean up that spilled drink on purpose and come away with a pristine machine. However, while it’s designed for the wet, this also excels in the dry. An impressive 15 litre storage capacity when dry makes it an ideal option for professional cleaners, but it is also light at only 7.1kgs and will be easy to get around the home. Since its original launch in the 1980s, the Henry vacuum range has been a staple of homes and offices. But as the range grows, which one is best for you? Charles is designed to shine in the wet – and this is indeed where it has the edge over the competition. Having a vacuum which can clean up spillages is a major bonus. If you’ve ever had a big spill in your home or even had a problem with the plumbing you know exactly how difficult it can be to clean it up. Not with a Charles in the house.

As the name suggests, the Henry Xtra is just like the regular Henry but a little bit more. He comes with a host of different accessories and features which means he can cope with just about any job going. If you have pets, either the Harry HHR200 or Henry Xtra HVX200 are great choices. Both include a turbo tool for getting rid of pet hair in carpets and upholstery.

Other Machines from Numatic

There are different aspects of Henry vacuums that come with a class rating. Energy Efficiency is one, suction another. There may be more. As a general rule, Class A is the best you can buy. A Traditional Henry has an Energy Class A rating, for example. Other Considerations to Make Before Buying a Henry Vacuum Cleaner If you have a big home, messy occupants, or want to save time, this is the Henry model to go for in our opinion. Its design features will keep you cleaning without pause, and it’ll cope admirably with all the dust, debris, and fur you need to remove from your home or car. In our review Lindsey gave it top marks for cleaning power and versatility, but bear in mind that it's heavy to lug up the stairs. Alas, there is no choice. All of the Henry vacuum cleaners in the range are floor vacuums. That just means that they don’t stand upright, and that they roll around on the floor on wheels. You drag the vacuum along behind you while you use the hose. Overall the Xtra is inexpensive, comes with a high energy rating, the same 26.4 reach of the James, and caters to pet owners. It’s lightweight, quiet, and does everything the Henry forgot to do – but doesn’t include the wet/dry feature that some of the other models do. As well as extra storage, James’ bright yellow face brings you a wind-up cord, A Class energy efficiency, and an 8l drum for dust and dirt. As if that weren’t already pretty amazing, it also manages to beat its predecessor in terms of weight, coming in at an impressive 7kgs. With more than 26 metres of reach, the James outdoes the original Henry and leaves us all in awe.
