VOICE OF THE ELDERLY

Fife Elderly Forum User Panels are small groups of older people who meet monthly to discuss the community care and health services they use.

Their experiences and comments are passed to service planners and providers so that they may be taken into account when services are reviewed and/or designed.

There are eight panels, with up to twelve people in each.  Meeting regularly results in an increase in confidence and people are willing to enter into discussion, highlighting issues and providing information for those consulting with them.

This way of working encourages service planners in Fife, researchers uk wide, together with national and government agencies, to work with panel members on a recurring basis in the knowledge that they will be assured quality feedback.  Panel members are nominated by staff from Health, Social Work and the voluntary sector.

They do not represent other groups, only older people whose circumstances or situations are similar to their own.  FREE Accessible transport is arranged to and from meetings and FREE refreshments provided.  NO charges are incurred by panel members.
