Markinch Environmental Action Group
Markinch Environmental Action Group (MEAG)was set up in March 2009 by local residents with the aims of making our community more sustainable.
This means increasing our resilience to environmental change and minimising the impacts of fossil fuel prices and climate change on our community.
The group is driven by its members and we are looking into several areas of sustainability such as:
- improving energy efficiency for local householders
- the possibility of community owned renewable energy sources
- creating new allotments to allow us to grow our own food locally
- local transport issues (cycle tracks, lift shares)
- sharing skills
We are also concerned with the general appearance of Markinch and take an interest in local developments.
