About this deal

It may have been inspired by Rasender Teufel, invented 1927 in Leipzig, which had an almost identical set of rules and play style. A typical round can be finished in three or four minutes, so a Ligretto game could be completed in 20 minutes depending on the agreed goals. This game is best with six or more players and therefore two or three boxes of different colours are best purchased.

It just sits on the game screen and doesn’t deal any cards and the app must be closed and restarted from the beginning. You’ll be trawling though your cards trying to get rid of as many as possible by creating communal piles of colours starting with the lowest number first. Each deck has a different design on the back (carriage, pump, pail, and plow) to designate players cards. Hard to believe that this little corker has been flying around for over 30 years but only recently did I discover its tiny boxed brilliance. It can be played and enjoyed equally by children from 8 years old to adult with youth being at no disadvantage.

You need to be fast, clever and skilful and you can combine more boxes to increase the number of players, ie 2 boxes for 8 players and 3 boxes for 12.

Additionally, three cards (four cards in a three-player game, five cards in a two-player game) are displayed face up next to this stack; these constitute the "Row", whose numbers are also visible to players. This game WOULD be fun and addictive, if only you could play more than one round without it freezing up. This is what makes the game so much fun as the game changes so quickly and it is almost impossible to keep up.

The aim of the game is to get rid of all your cards faster than all the other players by discarding them in the middle of the table. Players score one point for each card played from their deck and subtract two points for each card left in their ligretto stack. When I communicated with the seller, they didn't give me much context as to why it was different than advertised and said they'd look into it.Players deal 10 cards face down into a stack in front of themselves and then turn the stack over to reveal the numbers. Each player tries to roll the correct numbers with his coloured dice so that they can be placed on the board. If no player can play another card, all participants reshuffle their hand, and a player proclaims "Ligretto! Simultaneously, all players try to discard as many cards of the same colour as possible from 1 to 10. As they play their cards this can open the possibility of moving cards from your deck – but only if you beat others to the play.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Add a second different colour box and up to eight can play, add the third and now twelve players can compete. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. At the start of each round, each player lays out 3-5 cards (depending on the number of players) face up in front of them to create their row; places a face-up stack of ten cards, seeing only the top card, next to their row to create their Ligretto stack; and holds the remaining cards in hand face down. Then you will deal a further 3 single cards (or possibly up to 5 dependent on player numbers) face up to create your row next to the Ligretto pile leaving the remaining cards face down as a sort of draw pile for yourself.
