However, if I was feeling cynical I'd argue he's running out of ideas as there was a fair bit of padding with pages with two lines of recipe on and then an artistic brush stroke covering the remaining 1 and 3/4 pages.

I could read Nigel Slater's books all day, and when I go this book, in July it came to work with me for a week. This will have you carrying dishes outside to eat, whether you have a huge lawn or just a chair and a wedge of space on a balcony. I have made two recipes out of Greenfeast: Autumn, Winter and both recipes were easy to understand, implement, and eat. There is also a lot of the pea and herb purée, but I'm not complaining as I will have that for lunch tomorrow on toast!Greenfeast, like Eat before it, is a collection of what I eat when I finish work every day: the casual yet spirited meals with which I sustain myself and whoever else is around. But that would leave you feeling unbelievably hungry, and when his food – often just the putting together of a few ingredients, with thought – is so reassuring and good, it's tough not to start pulling things from cupboards, and perusing the fridge for willing participants.

I don’t know exactly why or when I started noting down my dinner, but these little books are now filled in out of habit as much as anything else. So all of that makes it a little too overwhelming for me to actually focus on any one thing and find it practical to cook from. At the start of the longest half of the year, our appetite is pricked by the sudden drop in temperature, and as evenings get longer, we have the opportunity to spend a little more time in the kitchen. vegetarian spring and summer recipes that provide nourishing and simple plant-based suppers while paying homage to the warm seasons—from the beloved author of Tender. Was mir bei den Rezepten besonders gefallen hat, waren nicht nur die Fotos, sondern auch die zusätzlichen Kommentare des Autors, der noch Tipps gegeben hat oder Variationen ins Spiel gebracht hat.

It's beautiful to look at and exactly the kind of recipes that work for me - less instruction manual- more guidelines.

I think the really interesting bits of my story was growing up with this terribly dominating dad and a mum who I loved to bits but obviously I lost very early on; and then having to fight with the woman who replaced her . One of the points that interests me, and perhaps this is the main reason I have kept the daily ritual going for so long, is that I can follow how my eating has changed, albeit gradually, over the years. As always with Nigel Slater the recipes are good, interesting, and easy to use, but much important is the prose that sits alongside it - things like "the apricot nestles in its morning dew hinting at the possibilities inside" - which make it worth reading alone.
