Dunfermline Children's Gala Day
Dunfermline Children's Gala Committee is a group of parent volunteers who organise and fundraise Dunfermline Children's Gala each year. The event features 19 Primary Schools (3000 children), marching bands and street entertainment. The Gala parade starts at 11.00am from Viewfield Car Park, through East Port, the High Street, Bridge Street and into the Glen (Pittencrieff Park) through Louise Carnegie Gates. Each school has an allotted space and children split up into their schools for games and a picnic lunch. Entertainment continues in the Glen after children have been picked up by their parents at 1.30pm. There's a Battle of the Bands in the bandstand, charity stalls, craft stalls, bouncy castles, gymnastic and dance display.
The tradition started in 1903 with Andrew Carnegie being a benefactor in its 2nd year. More information is available on our website.
Date: One Monday per month as published on web-site 7.30pm
