About this deal

Flatliners remains a fun experience that works as both a medical thriller and, with its Gothic imagery, a genre film.

Film Masters offers up a double dose of drive-in fun with their double feature Blu-ray release of The Devil’s Partner and Creature From The Haunted Sea. There’s also discussion around the lights created to tie scenes together, referred to as “penis lights” here. Known for his impressively eclectic filmography and for helping to launch the careers of several young Hollywood stars of the 80s and 90s, Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys, St. The inspiration for the story, touched on in the commentary, comes from the term “accountability” being thrown around during the Iran-Contra scandal, and his friend dying for 15-seconds (in the commentary Reesman and Eyer mention his friends was actually dead for a minute-and-fifteen seconds and that it was from an allergic reaction to anesthesia). Elmo’s Fire) tackles the existential question that, at one time or another, haunts us all: what awaits us after we die?For Rachel, her atonement is not from herself, rather it takes the form of realizing that it wasn’t actually her fault that her father killed himself. Production designer Eugenio Zanetti and art director Larry Lundy then go over the film’s locations and making the film look more interesting than the subject matter suggested (trying to avoid sterile white labs), all of this alongside footage from the locations now. However, once settled into the groove of the film and when the “ghosts” were starting to make their play for the Flatliners, the grain grew less distracting and de Bont’s work was more able to take hold. As someone who loves clever practical effects, “Visions of Light” with de Bont and chief lighting technician Edward Ayer ( Die Hard) is particularly fascinating as they discuss little things, like how they achieved the shadow affect when Nelson is sitting alone in his apartment holding his screwdriver defensively or the use of a projector to get the splintered light just so on David’s face before being confronted by younger Winnie.

In the featurette “The Conquest of Our Generation,” Filardi discusses how his and Schumacher’s ideas for what the film is about differ — Schumacher’s being an exploration of gods and monsters, while Filardi examined atonement — and, in the watching, you can see both ideas billow to the surface and mix wonderfully. The material on this site may not be reproduced, distributed, transmitted, cached or otherwise used except with the prior written permission of The Digital Bits, Inc.Their genuine approach to the script is ultimately what sells this story and keeps viewers invested. the like, and it maybe has a slightly more "video" like quality in this 4K UHD version, though detail levels are still excellent. This is one film that probably could use a new Atmos mix to improve upon some of its lesser qualities, but taken as a pair, both tracks are very satisfactory. We also have interview shows which feature people from an eclectic mix of the entertainment industries. Audio restoration was completed at Deluxe Audio SErvices, Hollywood, sourced from the original 35mm LCRS stereo magnetic tracks.

That said, I love the notion that these four aren’t really haunted by anything at all beyond their own subconscious unaddressed traumas, making Flatliners never concretely deal with the supernatural, but lean hard on the philosophical. Lastly, Dressing For Character is a new interview with costume designer Susan Becker running just over six minutes that reviews how she came on board the project and what she brought to the film with her costuming work and choices. Robert's favorite genres include horror (foreign and domestic), Asian cinema and pornography (foreign and domestic). With the future star-studded cast, the classic 90s film tone bleeds through and director Joel Schumacher was able to leave his mark with what is now a cult classic. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray director Niels Arden Oplev's thriller Flatliners (2017), starring Nina Dobrev, Kiersey Clemons, Ellen Page, James Norton, and Diego Luna.

Where the remake had the flatliners in an actual hospital, separating the day-to-day life and the night time adventures just to create an atmosphere, like a stage performance. Rounding out the group is Steckle (Oliver Platt, Lake Placid), the voice of reason who wants to support his friends, and yet his biggest risks remain rooted in academia. Plenty has been written about Flatliners in its 32 years of wide release, but one thing stands out that I’d like to address first: it’s not as scary as one might expect.
