About this deal

In the comparison, I hooked up the clip-on microphone on the iRig Acoustic Stage to the sound port on my Washburn 10WD SCE Acoustic Guitar and ran it into an instrument input on my Presonus Firestudio audio interface. I then plugged the guitar output on my acoustic guitar into another open input on the interface. And finally, I mic’ed the guitar up with a Rode Nt1a condenser microphone at roughly the 12th fret.

I hope that helps clarify, but there is also very detailed information as well as audio demos and videos at the link posted above http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigacousticstageStep up to the iRig Stomp I/O, and you’re in an entirely different league. This 24-bit/96kHz digital powerhouse features four multifunction footswitches and an expression pedal, giving you advanced real-time control of the AmpliTube app and desktop software. What’s more, the iRig Stomp I/O lives up to its name, including stereo line inputs, a combo mic/instrument preamp, two external footswitch inputs, and MIDI I/O. At 100 euros, the iRig Acoustic Stage is ridiculously good value for money and very practical if you need to amplify an acoustic guitar live. For home recording, it is also a very useful tool, and the most inexpensive way I can think of to capture a good acoustic guitar recording. This workaround is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

With iRig Acoustic Stage, you no longer have to sacrifice great acoustic tone when playing live. iRig Acoustic Stage gives you the best of both worlds — the beautiful, rich sound of your acoustic guitar as if it were mic’d up in the studio AND the freedom to move around without compromising your sound. Sound impossible? Read on… The microphone itself is mounted in the thin, plectrum shaped plastic housing that hooks on the edge of the soundhole. As these are made for guitars as well as ukuleles. I was a little worried that the thin top of a ukulele may make it too loose, but I personally didn't have an issue with my first test uke (an Omega Zedro with a very thin solid top). I tried another ukulele used for the photos, a thin topped Martin Soprano and that had no issue either though it was certainly a bit looser. Finally I attached it to a solid Pono gloss concert that I used in the sound test and video and that was about as loose as the Martin, but still useable and not rattly. I suppose that 'some' ukuleles may cause an issue however as this is specifically mentioned in the instructions. The answer in the manual is to narrow the slot with some tape. I can see that working, but it might be nicer if they made it adjustable, or provided a rubber insert to slip inside it. Still, a minor gripe I suppose as it simply wasn't an issue for me on three very thin topped ukuleles! Requires expensive tools to achieve best performance (high quality microphones, high quality preamps)After hearing the results from each, you can definitely hear a distinct difference in each recording. In my opinion, the guitar output from the acoustic guitar sounds like absolute garbage. It’s way too “tingy” and there is no lower presence. There’s also a lot of rumble (especially when strumming). Our roundup of Thunderbolt audio interfaces could be helpful for someone wanting to upgrade to an interface faster than a USB connection. The difficult thing about recording guitars at home, or even in a studio environment, is that there are a lot of different ways to do it, yet many of them are ambiguous, complicated and never seem to provide a straight path forward. For other issues and information about recording an acoustic guitar on GarageBand, setting up the iRig Acoustic Stage or working with your own USB interface, the following resources could be helpful. You’ve already got an acoustic you love and now you can easily add a high performance clip on microphone with a dedicated preamp.

Top-of-the-line iRig interfaces accommodate much more than instrument-level signals. Several include simple yet effective preamps, plus additional I/O to fit into all kinds of systems. Here are some highlights: iRig PRO For this tutorial I'll show you how to easily record your acoustic guitar into GarageBand, without the need for a complex software suite and without having to worry about most of the issues we previously mentioned. Once the above is set, view your AmpliTube Settings > Audio/MIDI Settings window once again. Under Input channels, you can now view and select iRig as your input. Under Output channels, make sure your interface you are monitoring from is selected. Cheap" did not mean "bad". Again the AER compact 60 which is well regarded as an acoustic amp has a "cheap" IC car amplifier in his heart. It also does not mean that anyone can make an AER compact 60 clone with a piece of plywood, a saw and a soldering iron and make it sound as good. The iRig Acoustic Stage product feature has all the information and specs on the mic and preamp we've been using
