About this deal

Whereas the Actifry was very limited in what it could do, the Innoteck is a much more versatile piece of equipment and, as a result, I can see us using it a lot more. There’s lots of talk about air fryers being a passing fad, but the most convincing argument I can make in this Ninja’s favour is that I now reach for it more often than I turn my oven on. It doesn’t produce the crispiness of my top choice of air fryer, but it does cook very quickly and evenly – 20 minutes for chips or sweet potato fries and just six minutes for vegetables. Finally, the Philips can be paired with the NutriU App for remote use via your smartphone, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I've managed to keep it on my kitchen side, with the recommended space at the back, while still having plenty of room to prep and get to work on my kitchen top in front of it. This versatile appliance boasts 12 different settings/programs, allowing you to cook a wide range of dishes with ease. This may not sound that significant but a big gripe about the Actifry that I had before is that there are some bits that are just impossible to clean, so it looks ugly on the countertop and is consistently grotty. Roast, dehydrate, slow cook, fry, bake, and reheat with full accessories plus the bonus of a silicone oven mitt and cleaning brush. In fact, even though it has a 12L cooking capacity, I wasn't sure that we were going to be able to squeeze in a whole chicken for roasting – more on that later. But the thing is, an air fryer can grill, it mimics deep frying, warms up leftovers, things that an oven can’t do.

However, if you’re looking for a device that’s more of a mini-oven for a small home then this might work. The roast potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had, and having honey-glazed the carrots, they came out fantastic. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, though slightly dry (the downside to most air fryers). Using convection mechanism, to heat up food, this appliance consists of a heating element that transmits heat to the food drawer and a strong fan that works to turn food for even cooking. For this, the manufacturer suggests 13-15 minutes at 200C; I thought I’d play it safe and test it at 5 minute intervals.

Square–shaped racks Comes with 3 square shaped oven racks that offer you with a larger cooking surface. For this review, as part of our commitment to how we test products that we recommendat Ideal Home, Qin spent a couple of days trying out different recipes, including new and old favourites. As you’d expect from any oven, both temperature and time can be set and there are a number of useful preset programmes for commonly eaten foods, all of these can be modified in terms of time or temperature, should you wish.If you’re looking for something even bigger - Innoteck does models that come in at 16 and even 30litres. The controls are spelt out on the display, so you won’t need to refer to the instructions too much and there’s also a handy ‘keep warm’ mode. The marvellous thing about air-fryers is that they cook quickly and evenly, with barely any oil, or even no oil at all. One of the standard criticisms of air fryers is that they’re too big and unfortunately, this is a classic example.

It's big enough to cater to families and friends, whilst its compact dimensions won't take up much space. That makes it perfect for keen chefs and those who know they will make the most of all of the space on offer, likely to be those with large families or who love to entertain. The Vizion viewing windows, built into the front of each drawer allow you to keep a constant eye on the progress without ever needing to open the compartments again, saving you more time and energy in the kitchen.

Having used the cooking time to prep the chips, I then used the resting time for the meat to cook the fries as, unlike a conventional oven, this air fryer oven definitely wasn’t spacious enough to cook both at the same time. It beats a regular oven for efficiency but it’s definitely not the most energy efficient model out there if you’re looking to save money. All other things being equal, it is still cheaper to cook with gas, which at the time of writing cost 7p per kiloWatt hour, although the size and age of your gas oven may make still make it less efficient than the best modern air fryers. They're well established now, and more and more innovations are appearing as manufacturers try to create the perfect multi-function kitchen tool. The Innoteck air fryer oven had 15 minutes at 200C as the default setting for fries so that's what I went with this first.
