My skin is oily and spot prone and this foundation is oil free so I was hoping this would be the one for me. This foundation in Calico was the best foundation I’ve found for my skin tone in a long time, but I’ve been having a hard time finding that specific shade lately.

Although there’s no actual sheen or ‘glow’ in the finish, it doesn’t look cakey or chalky, it just leaves my skin looking perfect! The formula of this is quite thick but it’s really easy to blend out, so you don’t need absolutely loads to cover your face like you do with some thick foundations. It's part of the reason why I hated testing foundations because I had to see what a state my skin was in which then meant my foundations were obviously the wrong colour. I had moved to Estée Lauder Double Wear which is so expensive and is not as good a match (I got desert beige) as the calico is. Powered by a skin-mattifying blend of fine oil-absorbing powders, the lightweight formula glides effortlessly onto the skin, blurring the appearance of pores, with a velvety soft finish and no powdery flatness for a beautifully matte complexion that lasts for up to 16 hours.

And for treating the whole family try Thornton's Premium Collection for when you are all together watching TV and want to make it a little bit special. It has a slight scent to it which I like but its not too fragrant and the foundation is buildable- a little bit goes a long way. The packaging box is gorgeous and effective and modern looking and even though the bottle itself is plastic which can look quite cheap it still maintains it’s modern look.

However the coverage doesn’t last all day and towards the end of the afternoon it starts to flake off a bit. It also settles slightly into fine lines around the chin and eyes but not as bad as others that I have experienced.Look for a natural-looking and hard-wearing foundation that balances your complexion, for a fresh-faced feel that lasts as long as you do. Put as many foundations as you can in as I think calico is a tricky one to match as if the foundation doesn't have enough pale variations it just gives you the lightest one without taking into account the pink/yellow undertones.
