About this deal

Hydration drinks are a mix of water and electrolytes (such as sodium and potassium) with little or no added carbohydrate, designed to replace the fluid and salts lost during exercise. Why use electrolyte / hydration drinks? As an athlete of any sport or a specialised endurance athlete, our GO Energy Isotonic Gel can be used on its own to fulfil your fuelling requirements, or combined with other products from our extensive range of Mixed GO Isotonic Energy Gelsenergy spplements. Consuming carbohydrate during endurance exercise delays fatigue and boosts performance, but the amount that can actually be delivered to the working muscles is limited by the rate at which it can be absorbed from your digestive tract. The testing protocol for these energy drinks was quite straightforward in that I used each of them regularly to fuel my training rides – which spanned shorter, high intensity interval sessions all the way to five hour plus rides. As a big part of carbohydrate absorption is your gut being familiar with the particular mix, it means it’s difficult to make a judgement straight away.

Lemon: Citric Acid, Electrolytes 37% (Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Tricalcium Phosphate, Magnesium Carbonate), Sorbitol, Inulin, Green Tea Extract, Colour (Beetroot Red), Natural Flavouring, Elderberry Powder (2.3%), Starch, Sweetener (Sucralose), Vitamins (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Thiamin) Berry: Citric Acid, Electrolytes 37% (Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Tricalcium Phosphate, Magnesium Carbonate), Sorbitol, Inulin, Colour (Beetroot Red), Natural Flavouring, Elderberry Powder (2.3%), Starch, Sweetener (Sucralose), Vitamins (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Thiamin) During rides lasting over 60 minutes, consuming 30-60g of carbohydrate per hour will delay fatigue and help you sustain an optimum pace. One litre of an isotonic carbohydrate drink will provide around 60g of carbohydrate – so aim for around 250ml every 15-20 minutes. The key to this energy drink (and a few others) is through exploiting the different absorption pathways of glucose and fructose – by essentially splitting the traffic, your body is able to absorb carbs (up to 90 grams) than if just a single type of carbohydrate were used.

When you exercise, your core body temperature increases and your body sweats to cool you down and prevent overheating. Adequate hydration ensures that you replace the water lost while sweating and is integral in preventing cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. In addition researchers found that the glucose/fructose drink spared the body’s stored carbohydrate, improved water uptake from the gut and reduced the rate of perceived exertion. More recently, researchers at Birmingham University simulating a one-hour time trial after two hours of riding found an eight per cent improvement in performance when using glucose/fructose beverage, compared to a glucose-only drink. How do I use 2:1 fructose drinks effectively?

In sports drinks, brands tend to go one of two ways,’ says Samuels. ‘Maltodextrin or glucose. The ones with a higher glucose content will have a naturally higher simple sugar content. Lemon/Lime: Carbohydrate mix (93%) (Maltodextrin (from Maize), Fructose), Citric Acid, Electrolytes (2%) (Sodium Chloride, Calcium Lactate, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Magnesium Citrate), Natural Flavouring, Sweetener (Aspartame). Contains a source of Phenylalanine. From electrolyte gels to hydro tablets , our range of hydration supplements has been carefully designed to support your training. Whatever the intensity, we’ve got you covered. The drinks were judged on their taste, as well as how well the mixtures do when you deviate from the recommended concentrations – because many race and event situations can end up demanding this. As the body’s primary source of fuel during prolonged and high intensity exercise, depletion of muscle carbohydrate is one of the primary causes of fatigue, and can severely limit your ability to perform on longer rides. For rides lasting over an hour, try swapping your usual sports drink or energy gelfor a 2:1 product to increase carbohydrate delivery from 60g to 90g per hour – this equates to 1,500ml of a drink, three gels or three bars. Our Go Electrolyte Hydration Powder combines energy sources and electrolytes to enhance your body’s ability to absorb water on the go, and to maintain energy and endurance. Our electrolyte energy powders are easy to mix and are perfect for use during exercise.

Our GO Isotonic Energy Gel is simply 22g of carbohydrate from our selected source of maltodextrin. This creates an isotonic formula, which causes minimal stomach discomfort during exercise, but with maximum energy absorption. USAGE: Beta Fuel gels can be used in combination with other products within the Beta Fuel range to allow you to devise the best fuelling solution for you As such, I can only say how well I think it works, and get the details behind the product from the people who make it. Current recommendations to consume 30-60g of carbohydrate an hour during prolonged exercise are based on research showing that glucose absorption is capped at around one gram per minute (or 60g per hour), with studies showing that higher concentrations are simply not absorbed, and can result in stomach upset.Consume 500ml of SiS GO Hydro 3-4 hours prior to your event with a further 250-500ml in the hours before starting. During exercise of a shorter length where carbohydrate intake is not necessary, consume 500 ml of SiS GO Hydro per hour. If aiming to combine hydration and energy delivery, consume SiS GO Electrolyte with the SiS GO Gel range.
