Nick Sharratt has written and illustrated many books for children including Shark in the Park , You Choose and Pants . Nick Sharratt has written and illustrated many books for children including Shark in the Park, You Choose and Pants. I felt nostalgic all the way through, though I think it’s fair to say I wasn’t as enthralled as I was reading it at 10.

The book came with a tiny bend at the top right hand corner and the page layer had been slightly pulled so it's bent and you can visabley see the book is a little damaged. It was also very interesting to find out more about the author who wrote so many of my favourite childhood books. From the very first story she wrote, "Meet the Maggots", it was clear that this little girl had a very vivid imagination. The book reveals that she failed the 11-plus the first time she sat the exams, as she had a terrible cold. From the very first story she wrote, Meet the Maggots, it was very clear that this little girl had a very vivid imagination.Jacqueline takes a look back at her own childhood and teenage years in this captivating story of friendships, loneliness, books, family life and much more. Jacqueline has won the prestigious Smarties Prize and the Children's Book Award for DOUBLE ACT, which was also highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. The teacher, Mr Branson (who the children nicknamed Brandy Balls) would give all the children nicknames according to their character; initially he rather cruelly dubbed her "Jacky Four-eyes" when she came to school in glasses, subsequently he named her "Jacky Daydream" for staring out of the window during maths, a subject she hated.

I thought it was a very interesting book because even though there wasn’t a story plot, you got to see what it was like to be Jacqueline Wilson when she was younger and what it was like living with her family and growing up. Jacqueline Wilson takes a look back at her own childhood in this captivating story of friendships, loneliness, books, toys, parents and much more. I think that the issue is that I wanted to know more about her and more details about her life being an adult as well as a child but I do understand that I probably am not the target audience for this non-fiction and appreciate that other people especially younger people will definitely enjoy this! With photographs and new illustrations by Nick Sharratt, this book is a delight for all of Jacky's fans, and a treat for any new readers too. Each chapter ends with a passage from one of the author's books, which has been directly influenced by her own childhood. Jacqueline Wilson wrote her first novel when she was nine years old, and she has been writing ever since.
